Silent Hill Origins (PSP)

Hostile? Who's being hostile towards him? I thought we were all just voicing our opinions. :lol

Wait, you mean out of this thread? You're right..alot of people misinterperet Neph's posts as being mean...but in reality, it's just his opinion on things. If I've ever been hostile towards you Neph, I'm sorry. I didn't realize it though. I never like to be hostile towards anyone. :)

Now back on topic...or well...maybe not really....but would there be a possibility for a prequel to the first Silent Hill game or does the first one pretty much cover it?

The story is all whcked up to tell the truth. I couldn't really follow it...

BTW Strubes the thing about Neph goes way back before you were around.... He used to come here alot but he was basically run off the boards. In my opinion he was, anyways.

Well the good news, it's not a remake of SH1.....the better news...it's a completely new game...a Prequel to SH1...

i dunno just couldnt get into it i mean it prolly was a great game i just couldnt play it that long i got bored with it easily

Understandable, I had some issues with the gameplay, the attack system, and the "Fear" meter when ghost come by...

Here's a bit of info about SH4 that sheads alot of light. This game was not suppose to be a Silent Hill game! The producer of this game came by the studio and said "Hey this looks like Silent Hill, why cant we just make this a sequel?" and that's it lol Konami couldnt argue with him.

It was more of a chore then fun, especially when you have to go "Backwards" from the last part of the game, back into the Room. I thought that like trying to be similar to CastleVania SOTN when you got into the "Inverted Castle".....sure this translates well for a 2D game to do everything over again...but when it comes to Silent Hill 4...a 3D "Backwards" world of the same thing is a bit tedious in comparison imho.

For example, if you had to player Mario 64 forward...then backwards with greater difficulty then before...that just defeats the purpose of working hard to get to Bowser.

Honestly, this is another reason to own a PSP. When you first turn on the game, it will ask you to turn OFF the lights and plug in some headphones.

Word of advice, if you scare easily, then this is not for you. It will mess with your hearing and seeing senses by far. Which is what Silent Hill is famous for doing! :)

The story of how it all began...Travis Grady, a lone trucker who was on his way to the town of Brahms, who comes to a hault in the middle of the road, to a fallen girl. Travis getting out of his truck, soon realizes there is no one on the road before him....yet a mysterious fog drifts in...and our story begins....the girl is seen running down the road...and Travis follows after her, to that town...that town of...

You really do find out how it all began in this, extremely well done, very first prequel to the Silent Hill series.

Familiar faces from the original Silent Hill 1 are all here,. You have to remember, they are younger in this game, since it takes place about 20 years before the events set in.

Control setup? It is just like every Silent Hill game you may have tried, but the only thing that remains is the way you change weapons like in SH4. So I would say, if you played SH2 or 3...the controls are dead-on in comparison, it's nothing like part 4. Which I'm personally happy, because I feel the original gameplay was way better.

Puzzles? Oh yeah, there's tons of them now. I was wandering around for 2 hours in the Hospital fighting nurses before I could figure out where the keys or item I needed does lol

Fear? OH god yes, I warn you, I have had many tell me "Oh man I can't get scared from a portable game!"....true...but plug in some headphones and turn off the lights...if Alyssa doesn't make you jump or send shivers down your spine...then you're a braver soul than I. Especially when you enter into the "NIGHTMARE" world for the first time, it will freak you out!

Soundtrack? Gorgeous as ever, the infamous Silent Hill composer delivers the best again! Sets the mood and the fear in the right places.

Graphics? The eerie "Grainy" effects are back and still scary as hell. Framerate is smooth, camera angles are pretty much similar to SH1 and 2 I would have to say. If you have trouble seeing, tap L trigger to adjust your point of view to make sure the target or object is facing you. The cutscenes are very classic, to make it feel like Silent Hill 1 as much as possible.

Overall, thank you Konami. 3 years after Silent Hill 4 and those crazy psychos still GOT IT! Also don't forget that rumors are spreading that this game maybe ported to PS2!

instead of buying a psp to get this game, i think ill get this game to get a psp.
