So, I bought a Wii today...

Yeah I had a Wii and I abused it for the wrong reasons....Virtual Console...I spent a truckload of money on just that...never even messed with the actual games even....I felt bad, because I own most of the real games from the Virtual Console..

I've tried friends' Wiis, and sure it's fun... But then I think about how much fun I'll have playing with it in the long run, and I don't see myself playing with it in 3-4 weeks. Heck I don't remember the last time I picked up my Gamecube or PS2 controller, and when the last time I bought games for them. I like the feeling of actually playing with someone (Xbox Live), playing a game just to play it isn't very inviting to me anymore.

yeah online play is essential in today's market

Which brings me back to Super Smash Bros. Brawl and its online play.

One of my coworkers is on the fence about the Wii because he too doesn't like any of the games out right now. I told him he should buy it now while he can and just get Virtual Console games (because that does appeal to him) and then that way this holiday season when the two games he wants, SSBB and Super Mario Galaxies, come out, he will have the system. Because if the Wii is hard to find now (which he knows it is because we work at GameStop and they sell out every time they come in) imagine how hard it will be to find a Wii later this year when there are more must-have games for it and Christmas is right around the corner.

All systems start off slow, and realistically, when you buy them at launch it's usually for the potential in the system, not what it has right away. I mean look at the PS3. The games for that are weak but so many people bought it anyway because of its potential. Lair, Heavenly Sword, MGS4, FFXIII...those aren't available now, but they will be, and that is reason enough for many people.

yea i think the x-box 360 didnt come out with good launch titles either, but i never played one so i dont know, but yea if everybody is waiting until better games are comming out then they're all going to go out and get them at the same time, and they're going to be sold out, so id say get one now if ur waiting for good games, cuz there will be good games, its just a matter of time

Ywa just try to get this through the 360 fanboys... yea you know who you are

But personally I wish I wouldnt have bought a wii, at least not as early as i did...

I wouldn't buy a Wii, at least, not yet. I have pumped in more hours into Wii Sports Bowling than I have into many "real games." But that has to do a lot with the fact that I generally only play the Wii at my friend's house, so there's usually at least 3 or 4 of us, which makes bowling a perfect backdrop for hanging out.

I'm still waiting to see some real games come out on the system. The mini-game games are neat and fun for awhile, but I have to see Mario and Metroid before I'll admit the console is capable of some deep and engrossing games. So far the only "real games" have been slapped together ports that are really poorly executed.

For the time being, I wouldn't buy a Wii. Wait until something on it does interest you, then buy it. Who knows, the price might even drop between now and then.

i have to say, the only thing i use my wii for is the internet channel, the rest of the time it just sits there. the only games i play are Oblivion for the 360, and iv been getting back into gta san andreas for the xbox

I picked up Mario Strikers today but my Wiimote appears to be broken, ugh. Thought my Wii was finally going to be back in buisness once again.

Super Paper Mario is awesome. I was just playing that last night. :) I like how much puzzle solving there is.

I absolutely RESENT this game! Its way too big of a change from TYD... which was the best Cube game of all time... it dissappointed me

I'm so happy they took away the RPG elements. Mario as an RPG? lmaooo. Come on now. :lol

Well honestly I could never get into the Paper Mario games that much. I still haven't beaten Paper Mario on the N64 and I haven't touched TYD at all. IMO the Paper Marios will never be as good of a Mario rpg as the big daddy of them all, Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars (on the SNES). But Super Paper Mario doesn't try to be an rpg and that's why I like it.

Retro - did you make sure that it was synched up? I kept having problems with mine and I found out that it was only temporarily synched with the system instead of synched up normally. I had to manually synch it back up and now it works without a hitch.
