So what's Sony's super-secret game?

It's been all the rage for quite a while over at GT, so I thought I'd ask you guys for your opinions. I'm talking about the game that left a BBC correspondent speechless.

So what else was I shown? Well, I was shown a trailer for a game not due out till 2009 but was sworn to absolute secrecy. Apparently, Sony just wanted to give a glimpse of what the console will be capable of.

In fact, the game is such a secret that when I mentioned the game to Phil Harrison last week he was unsure at first whether even to admit the title existed. When I explained I had been shown it under strict Non Disclosure Agreement terms he looked relieved.

I don't mean to be a tease - all I can say is that I was left speechless. If the footage I was shown truly is "in game", as told to me by the Sony PR people, then we could be on the brink of a step change in what games consoles are capable of in terms of story-telling and immersion.

I personally have no clue what it is. Sounds like an RPG with the whole story-telling and immersion thing they're saying. Maybe they'll show it at E3 though.
 
Sounds like he's over-exaggerating just a little. I mean, amazing immersion and story-telling from a trailer for a game not due out for another year at least?

Well maybe MGS5 is just a step away then. LOL theres not a lot of games that would invoke that type of reaction so iam guessing that it is a sequel to a already existing game. Now the question is which one of the top games thats out right now will be coming out in 09 with a sequel? Maybe COD5 even though you can watch that trailer already? who knows. Curious about it though now.

Your ideas were all third party games. Think about that.
 
Sony doesn't have that many first party games (that aren't racing or sports) besides God of War 3, and we already know about that. And it's probably not Killzone 2 or LittleBigPlanet, since we already know about those as well.

If it's super secret, it has to be something that's so out of the blue that it hasn't even been a rumor yet.

What are Sony's biggest 1st party games? (even the racing ones)
 
Gran Turismo is one of the big ones. But, the secret game is not that if it has to do with storytelling.

Sony also does one of the ATV games, but I don't remember which one. ATV Offroad Fury, maybe?

And then there's 989 Sports games, but 989 doesn't exist anymore if I recall correctly.

The Getaway 3 is one that is suggested on the BBC blog, but since that's already announced, I don't think it's that.

God of War is certainly a possibility, but I want it to be a new IP.

Exactly. I'm guessing a new IP. Cause the IP's they've had this gen have been awesome for the most part.

well the fact that is rumored an RPG makes me belive there's a 10% chance that it might be legend of dragoon 2 XD, and 50% chance that it might be a new IP RPG that is as good as legend of dragoon

It's not just for Sony, IP refers to intellectual property. Like Ratchet and Clank for Sony, Master Chief for Microsoft, Mario for Nintendo, etc. What the company owns the rights to.
 
Have you guys heard the rumor that it might be Shadow of the Colossus 2? Right now most sites are saying that it might be that game which if it is that is going to be the best looking game probably to hit the PS3 for a while since the first one blew my mind away even if the story line was sort of weird and i didn't understand the ending to well. LOL

I actually had to look up Ico on google. LOL (can't believe i hadn't heard of that game) and your right it does look very similar to SOTC, even the character looks similar but who knows for sure what they have up their sleeve at this moment. Might have to get Ico now and fire up the old PS2. (thanks for telling me about that game)
