Sony says no price cut on PS3 until better sales!

It seems weird to me that everyone pitches a fit about the price, but doesn't care about the benefits of buying a PS3. But whatever. I am sure everyone will bring out the tar and feathers because I am defending Sony.
Of course there are benefits to buying a PS3. It's just that price has always been a huge complaint, probably the biggest complaint among those who don't like the PS3, so I personally don't find it logical for Sony to be so stubborn about the element of their system that appears to be stopping the most people form buying the PS3.

Of course, we just got a new Model, and a $500 80gig. I guess two price cuts in one year is good enough. XD

Well, there will always be people who want the steak on a cheeseburger budget. And unfortunately a lot of them feel entitled to pay considerably less than what is offered. And to those people I would say tough beans. But the rest of us reasonable people weigh in the features and benefits and see whether it's worth it to make a large purchase. And if we can't afford it, we can always save up for it.

I just don't see the point of paying $500-600 for something that has a few extra bells and whistles, that I don't need, than my other gaming systems.

That's true. For what's in the PS3, even $600 was a good value.

Unfortunately, the PS3 being a good value doesn't change any complaints people have about the price. Price point will remain a major stumbling block for the PS3, and that is why I don't understand, or particularly like Sony's decision. They want more PS3's sold before they make more price cuts, but not as many people will want a PS3 without another price cut.

I get what your saying, about the PS3 being a good value, and I agree with you, but from a business perspective, this just doesn't seem to be a good move for them.

Then again, PS3 sales did jump recently, once the 40gig came out, so who knows, maybe they don't need another price drop right now.

Why do people still say it's $600?? it's $500
Actually, the 40gig is $400.

I know how much they are...$400 for the 40GB...but $500 for the 80GB :)

Anyways, Neogeofl has the deal of the week..get it!

and soon $600 for the 100 GB but that's pointless since you can use any laptop hard drive on the PS3

and what's more funny, is the actual PS3 manual tells you how to REMOVE the harddrive...and what brand of Harddrives are compatible with it lol

Ya see, there's a little thing called sales tax. It adds about $35 on it, so do you like me saying $500-550 better?

Tax, but Uncle Sam said he loves us! :'(

Okay, if you want to break it down, then $535

Not to mention, half the features are worthless to some of us for quite some time. I have standard TV's, no amazing sound system, no Blu-Ray movies. So I can't see how truly amazing the graphics and sounds are, and I can't watch Blu-Ray movies on my Blu-Ray player. So I'm stuck with one good game, with a watered down presentation. That is not worth $500.

So they should suffer for the next three years, and at the point where that time does roll around, the other two will have good sales, and all are playable on the HDTV's, so each one will enjoy a steady stream of sales, still leaving PS3 in the back of the pack?
