Square Enix Merchandising Store Open as of Midnight, the 20th

If you've got any marrow or plasma to spare, you'd better go get it sucked out now because at midnight tonight, Square Enix opens the online merchandise store to the United States. The online store has been available to Japanese consumers for quite some time now, offering everything from Dragon Quest stationary to replica Gunblades from Final Fantasy VIII.

The US store will have a modest opening, sticking mostly to figurines.

I want to get the Meteor Materia Necklace, looks awesome.

Man, $105, didn't know Onyx was THAT pricey.

EDIT: The Cloud Strife Pendant seems rediculously overpriced. It's Carbon and Silver, not exactly rare materials. Unless it's a pain in the butt to make.

This only goes to show that
A: Fanboys/girls are absolutely retarded - no one in their right mind pays $105 for an ordinary marble in a moderately spiffy silver chain
B: Square-Enix is a money grubbing enterprise bent solely on turning a buck rather than developing good stand-alone titles with actual intelligent plot/dialogue/characters (everything after FFIX, barring FFXI, has blown huge --- something or other)
C: This marks the end of any dwindling respect I have for the company. Rot in eternal bankruptcy you conglamorate nightmare.

They're for the fanboys/girls. That's the main point. If you don't like it. Don't buy it. Same with the Legendary version of Halo 3. Alot of video game memorabilia is overpriced...but as long as there's fans willing to pay, they'll pay.

I'm willing to pay $130 for game with awesome extras but $105 for just a necklace?? Heck no. Halo man. It's worth it.

But it's easy to compare the two. Sure you're getting a game with one, but you're mostly paying the extra money for the Helmet.

Well, I cracked and got 3 things:

http://www.square-enix-shop.com/usa/dsp_product.cfm?product_id=70&site_id=1

Cactaur Plushie

http://www.square-enix-shop.com/usa/dsp_product.cfm?product_id=71&site_id=1

Tonberry Plushie

http://www.square-enix-shop.com/usa/dsp_product.cfm?product_id=42&site_id=1

Knights of the Round Summon model (For those of you who don't know, in FF VII, Knights of the Round was the strongest summon in the game).

I have the Tonberry and the Moogle plushies, but I bought them from an import shop before the site went up so I paid like $rediculous for them. Much more affordable on the site.
