Taking the plunge

I finally decided to go ahead and get the 360 within the next month or so..Given the fact that there are some games I'm dying to play now, I can't wait until next year. Anyway, the question is Core or Premium? I'm not worried about BC, since I'm keeping the old xbox for that, and really don't need the extra space. I know I can always get the HD later on. I'm also not going live right away either. I'm also wondering if MS will chop a few bucks off of the current models once they release this new "elite" unit. Thanks for your replies.

First off, wait until that black 360 with all the memory comes out. Even if you don't want it, it may cause the price of the premium system to go down. I would definately recommend the premium system. It comes with an XBL headset, and a bunch of other stuff I don't really remember. Plus, the hard drive to the only 360 memory devices that won't fill up in like a month. Also, I know you didn't ask for it, but get Oblivion, R6Vegas, CoD 3, and I guess GeoW (even though the sp lasts for like 7 hours and the mp is uninspired.

Its not uninspired... Its fun although i wish there would be more players instead of just 4 on 4

That's just my opinion. You can say whatever, but I think there was nothing new or interesting and they only have an 8 player maximum. 8)

the premiun is definitly worth it, youll be ripping yourself off if u dont buy it.

it has a harddrive ($100 by itself), headset, wireless controller, ethernet cord and a month of live.

You get a month of live with core too. Plus, core sounds cooler to me. 8)

The problem with the core is that there is no way to save, period. You end up having to get a 64 MB memory card ($40) or a 20 gig hard drive ($100) to save any game information. Even if you get the core and just get the memory card, that's $340 right there, so why not just spend the extra $60 for the premium and get a 20 gig hard drive instead of a 64 MB memory card? In the long run the core ends up costing more money.

Yeah I know the core sucks. I got a premium, but I think core sounds cooler. THat's basically its only advantage.

That makes no sense at all...
Well you should come to expect that from me. About a fourth of the time, my posts make zero sense (I mean, look at my name). That one made sense though. I like the name core system better than the name premium system. 8)

I think premium sounds cooler. I win.

You're a towel. I'm cooler, premium sounds and performs better, and you're a Homicidal Cherry.

why not homicidal kiwi? :?
Because kiwis are too fuzzy and don't taste as good and cherries remind me of sundae's. And Jack, I may be a towel, but you are Towelie and have therefore smoked WAY to much pot to even know what's goin on. I may be a towel, but I'm not high. That's right. CORE RULEZ!!! :woot

Yeah as a recent plunger myself I must say I am very happy that I have done so. Regardless of the supposed black elite xbox or not. Unless you plan to download an insane amount of stuff the 20 gigs should be more than enough for you.

Thanks all for your replies, and it looks like I will go ahead and get the premuim system. Might as well do it right the first time, right :lol ?. Sorry for the late response, and again, thanks for the advice. I will more than likely wait, since I'm sure the price will drop again.

Any (reliable) word on a price drop? At launch they said there would be annual price drops and it's been well over a year now.

Frak..Given the fact that they are releasing this upgraded system, I would guess sometime this summer for a price drop. Either way, I'm sure it will happen.
