Tales of Symphonia unofficial hype thread!

Last night I noticed that when I started a new game with the extra stuff I unlocked with Grade points, I already had all the map information. As a result, all the skits points on the map are gone. :( Now I'm wondering how I can get the Kratos ending without any skit points. I think I have about 5 or so that I never got in my first game, so maybe those will help. I guess I'll have to see what happens in Flanoir.

Wierd, are you sure? Sometimes you need certain characters before some become active. Certain ones won't appear if you don't have the right characters with you. For example, if you're missing Collete (again) you won't see her skit points on the map. I thought Map Info just kept where all the towns and such were.

BTW have you ever seen the scene in Exire about Raine and Genis's mother. Very disturbing.

Also I wouldn't go for Maxwell unless you use Sheena alot, or are going for 100%. He just uses Meteor Storm, but Genis can do it much more often.

Volt rules you.

Yeah, I prefer Sheena over Genis. My party for the first playthrough was generally Lloyd, Raine, Sheena, and Zelos. Genis is generally best when you're fighting against elemental bosses, like the Summon Spirits, and that doesn't happen often.

Yeah, the thing with Raine and Genis' mother was pretty sad. I thought Raine's voice actor did an awesome job with that part.

Actually, I thought the voice acting in ToS was really excellent on the whole.

I shoulda guessed Sheen afrom your avatar :lol

I always use Genis when I can. I've yet to see any type of damage top Indignation (or Indignant Judgement for that matter). Explosion makes pretty noises :lol.
And Prism sword looks so damn cool, especially when executed at the same time as Raines Holy Lance in a U-attack.

The other night I was playing and I set a new personal record for combos: I got a 67 hit combo! :woot

I was using a party of Lloyd, Sheena, Zelos, and Presea. It was against the dragon in the Earth Temple, so I'm thinking of trying out different party combinations, like substituting Regal for Sheena or something. I want to get at least 100 hits, but I might have to wait for another boss bottle.

I also found out that my skit points were all still there, much to my relief. The ones I thought were missing were just because I didn't have the right character.

But I'm mad at myself because I forgot to battle the second iteration of the Skull Dancer and now I can't do it. I'll guess I'll just have to play it again after I beat it the second time. ;)

The highest known combo was 211 or somewhere around that on video. Stardust Rain gets a lot of hits on the dragon in the temple. He used his weakest weapons as not to kill it quickly.

Stardust Rain U-attack is Lloyds: Sword Rain Alpha or Sonic Sword Rain + Colletes Hammer Rain. I can almost guarentee somewhere past 80 with that alone.

ToS for PS2 is only happening in Japan, as far as I know. To counter the fact that the PS2's graphics aren't as good and that it came out later, Namco added extra costumes and unison attacks to the PS2 version, as well as extra cut scenes.

There's supposed to be 2 new Tales games in the works: Tales of Rebirth for PS2 and Tales of Legendia (I think) for GC. There are trailers for Rebirth on IGN, so that's a definite. I think the GC Tales though is still just a rumor. Tales of Rebirth looks really cool so far. It sticks with the cel-shading of Symphonia but has more of a 3D view rather than Symphonia's sort of top-down camera angle.

I will probably get the games in the Tales series, although what I really like about Symphonia is the characters, more than anything. Tales of Destiny (on PSone) has a great battle system and stuff from which you can see where Symphonia gets its influence, but the characters in ToD so far haven't been as remarkable as the ToS characters. But of course I'm only about 4 hours into ToD, so that could change.

I remember someone playing this, or had an import, for his PS2 on GameFaqs. Boy did he bash it. Loading, saving, and battles were so slow and choppy that the other things hardly changed anything. Although some things, like the new Unison attacks and "super" attacks looke really good.

Re: Tales of Symphonia

Good choice Strubes, an excellent game in my opionion, I wont spoil the story for you and make sure to try in do well in the fights because the amount of grade you get can help you out alot if you play the game a second time

have to warn you though it can get melodramatic at times, as do most RPGs

Re: Tales of Symphonia

I picked this up a few weeks back too but with playing AC and TRL all the time have not gotten into it so much as of yet.

Re: Tales of Symphonia

Like other RPGs it takes a little while for the story to pick up

Re: Tales of Symphonia

Yeah, I'm not too far into it yet. My friend bought it for me cause it was 1-4 players. So me and him started playing for a while. We're about to leave on our adventure...so we're shortly after the part where the Chosen saw her dad for the first time.

Re: Tales of Symphonia

Whoever does Not like this game is an idiot. It is a great game, you're so far in the beginning, everyone is like they like Her (Colette). Though her Dad seemedd unsincere at that point for me, for some reason.

There is a secret message for Strubes in there, let's see who can figure it out first.

Re: Tales of Symphonia

Wow, you're sharp. It was obvious though. I'll make it harder next time. Get on with the game, it's so totally fun. I had so much fun plaing that game.

Re: Tales of Symphonia

oh man, you spoiled the story, who knows what Strubes could learn from hearing that one piece of information

Re: Tales of Symphonia

I didn't ruin the story. It's his fault he's so smart. Plus, he can't learn anything from that information, it's useless information. Get up on the Hydra's back.
