texting and driving?

gotta love the music!
Hello all, i was watching the news last night and saw a story where this teenager was texting and driving and got into a serious accident cause she wasnt paying attention to the road. she has 3 broken ribs and broke her arm in 2 different places. if that wasnt bad enough, about a year ago, there was this 17 year old kid that was texting and driving and hit a guy on a bicycle and killed him!!!! that is a terrible thing that he will have to live with for the rest of his life.... i couldn't imagine going through that. i hate when my mom texts and drives, i finally told her that when im in the car with her, to let me text for her.

i hate texting in general.... the reason is this..... If you have something so important to tell me... why not just call? i HATE texting with a passion.

Where I live, it's illegal to use a handheld device while driving, for the reasons you just mentioned. I miss talking on the phone and driving (I used to get a lot accomplished that way), but I will admit there were a few times when my focus was totally not where it should have been.

You have a bluetooth headset, can't you use that? Or do you have a non-bluetooth phone?

We have the same laws here.
It's easy enough to be sidetracked for a second and have an accident, and I'll admit to checking my phone when driving on a straight quiet road before, and each time I'd glance up, the car would have shifted to the left or right a little too much.

Honestly, I've never really looked into it. That would definitely be a solution, you are right about that. I don't really mind the law though. Realistically I didn't get that much accomplished while driving. It was just convenient more than anything, and I don't think I need the extra distraction. I get lost in my own thoughts enough as is. :lol

yes that law also came into effect to here where i live. you cant talk on the phone or text unless you are using a hands-free device! and, in my opinion, certain people shouldn't be able to use that either.

I definitely agree. I don't know how many times I've had near misses with people who were clearly talking on hands-free devices.

me and a friend were driving down the freeway about two weeks ago and he has a ford focus, this hummer next to us started drifting towards us and almost ran us off the road. my friend blared his horn and they guy looked at us and you could see the bluetooth and he gave US the middle finger!!! so we followed him we were about to call the cops cause thats how bad my friend was pissed when a cop drove past us and saw the guy drift again and the dude got pulled over! HA! HA! HA! karma is a bitch!
