The almighty intercooler

It helps cool it, not worth it if you're just buying a 360 now. In fact, it's not just not worth it, it's utterly pointless.

How can an intercooler ruin a console? The whole idea behind the intercooler is to regulate the heat generated by the console it's self. I have a buddy who bought his 360 at launch along with an intercooler. No problems at all. No disk errors, not glitches, no Red Ring of Death.

Yes but I also had a buddy who installed it and hade major video output problems. He even got the Red Rings of Death for a few seconds. Once he uninstalled it then everything went back to normal.

@FHQ: I was assuming he meant the Intec Intercooler. I forgot that they actually made others.

Many people complained because it pretty much sucked.

Yeah, but forget it. It's not worth it. Do you have a 360 already?

Pfft, that kinda sucks now. Does it actually have heating problems?

Intec Intercooler = VERY BAD. I kid you not, when I worked at GameStop we got like 99% of them back because they actually made the system overheat.

Now, the Pelican Cooler, that's ok. We didn't have problems with that one.

The Intec Intercooler has had problems and actually melting itself to the console... Stay away from that one at all costs...

the 360 doesnt have overheating problems, and if it does, it was a small fraction of them that had a manufacturing problem

no more

no less

and the intercooler for wii? is that a joke?

Yea I have to agree with you there. Especially since my room increases by 10 degrees when I play it. ::)

mine does too, but thats not overheating

if it overheated it would malfunction or shut itself off

My room goes up 10 degrees when my computer is on. My room heats up the same when my 360 is running. Neither one have ever overheated.

Call it RF suppression, diode suppression or whatever. It seems to me that the intercooler you used wasn't designed to suppress the radio interference that electrical motors cause. If the motor of the intercooler was placed farther away from the console, or that it was shielded in a way that turned the radio frequency into heat, then I am sure you would have had a flawless setup. I had this problem once with a CD player I installed in my car. One of the wires got frayed, and was picking up a radio signal from the coil that was sitting on top of the distributor. Another example would be a running vacuum cleaner that's parked near a TV that is only hooked up to antennas.
