The Anti-"Wii doesn't have any games" Thread. IT ENDS HERE!

I don't think she was being argumentative with you, just making a point :)

I never said she was being argumentative, lol. But enough of that.

And I personally can see both sides of all of this. On the one hand, Nintendo needs to realize that the market for mature themed games is quite large and they should not neglect it so much, but on the flip side, the Wii was never marketed to "that" crowd and they probably have made the assumption that if you want a more diverse console with regards to mature and/or realistic games, you will choose one of the other 2 consoles offerings. Dunno if that makes a lick of sense, but I tried :D

This, I kinda agree with. When mature games come out, they don't sell at all. This is because of your second point. Unfortunately, the market for hardcore games on the Wii is quite small.

Fine I'm moving out!!!

In all seriousness, the Wii has a few good games. I did have a small amount of fun with a few games, but it's just not for me. I think the PS3 and/or the 360 provide much more bang for your buck without having to buy a Wii.

Just reading through this and wanted to add my own thoughts.

I once started a thread here when we were really slow and not getting many posts, something along the lines of "Nintendo sucks and this is why" and it was me playing Devil's Advocate to start a good conversation. I basically echoed what creepindeth here said about Nintendo making the same old stuff over and over with nothing new. This was when the Gamecube was a new console.

Now many years later I find myself a parent of two children, ages 4 and 10, and my opinion has somewhat changed. I hated the Wii when we first got it for my son, I saw it as nothing more than another Gamecube with a ton of kiddie games on it and motion sensor gimmicks. When my son got really interested in retro games through the VC though recently, things began to change. I got back into gaming after 5 years of not really gaming at all. In the past few months I have played through most of the games mentioned in this thread, and find that the Wii is actually an awesome console for hardcore gamers like myself.

I do however also love the fact that there are games me and my whole family can play together. Even my 4 year old can play SSMB and the New Super Mario Wii with us. It is very nice to share that experience the way it was shared with my parents ocne as well, with modern updates of the same games. I think Nintendo is doing just fine marketing to everyone really, because I am a fan of the Wii as a parent as well as a hardcore gamer. The VC has much to do with this in my case though.

Also wanted to add to the list, A Boy and His Blob. Awesome game that I just got tonight and really am loving!
