The DS Has been tweaked!!! WOW!

Regardless of the fact that they do upgrade their handheld systems way too soon, the upgrades are cool. But I still don't like the fact that I end up spending about twice the cash.

I'm hoping they will have more colors than silver available at launch. If not, I'll probably just get silver and get some custom skins made for it. That way when they come out with cooler colors, I won't be as tempted to buy them. :D

Hope they make a transparent cover, just like GB and GBA. But that would look werid on a DS.

Green wouldn't suit it either :-\

The new DS looks great! I'm planning on getting one of these when they launch. I'm not too sure about controlling games with the stylus...but that's a minor detail compared to the rest of the coolness it exudes LOL.
Blue, will you be able to preorder these? If so...put me on the list :D

yes I will be doing pre-orders for them :)

once the word comes through... I am dropping pre-orders :D

so whats the point of preordering them? I like they still use carts in the DS and the dual screen looks mighty cool, gotta give it to Nintendo comming up with cool ideas.

I'm not sure how BV's store works, but for most video game chains like EB and GameStop, the number of pre-orders we get for a certain item determines how many actual copies of that item we end up getting.

For example, Metal Slug 3 for XBOX and Tales of Symphonia at the store I work at got maybe 4 pre-orders, max. As a result, we barely got enough copies of both to cover their pre-orders, and now that people decide they want it, we're lucky to get one copy a week. But even for the big games like Madden, GTA4, and Halo 2, in the first shipment I'm about 99% sure that we'll only get enough for pre-orders, and anyone who didn't pre-order will have to wait for the next shipment.

Pre-ordering guarantees you a copy, since you know that they will at least send one copy for each pre-order. I would assume that the same would be true of the DS.

hum that kinda sucks, seems for games like GTA4 you should be able to preorder like 50 of them. just sounds you would get a lot of disapointed customers when they come looking their the new game.

Yeah, but you have to understand that at GameStop and EB, getting people to make pre-orders is part of the job and we're always letting people know that they can pre-order, so we really just kind of laugh at people who didn't pre-order and end up not able to get the game the first day. Seems mean, but it's how we keep our jobs. If they don't pre-order for a certain game and don't get it right away, they always learn from that to pre-order future games they want. So we lose them for that particular game but gain them for all the future games. Many times I've had a person come up to my register and they want to reserve a game because they've learned that. They're like, "Man, when ____ came out I didn't pre-order it, and I couldn't find it anywhere! So I'm gonna pre-order ____ so that I know for sure that I'll get it the first day."

And it's not like pre-ordering a game is going to kill a person. For games $49.99 and under, all you have to deposit is $5. I'm sure most people can spare $5 to make sure they get a game they want. Games over $50 require a $10 deposit, and systems like the DS are a $25 deposit. And you can always trade in your used games and DVDs for store credit towards any game you want to pre-order.

The DS is looking better everytime I see it. Is it backwards compatible with just GBA games?

I do hope they have a few other colors, but I'll take what I can get.

I usually preorder every game I plan on getting, unless I decided to wait til the price drops or didn't know about it ahead of time. Like Tales of Symphonia, I didn't hear about it until 3 days before it shipped, so I had to look everywhere for it.

I do believe it is backwards compatable with the GBA and the old GameBoy...I wonder what the second screen would show when playing these games?

Interesting thought......... I might get this over the PSP, since it will most likely be cheaper, and Nintendo hasn't failed me yet in the handheld market.

Thank god, the one shown at E3 looked like a hunk of crappy plastic.
I wonder if they will make one with a Snes or N64 skin like what they did with the GBA and NES.

Nintendo has released some more shots of the finalized DS design. This one is from IGN.
