well this is a game with a lot of controversy, so i wanted to know what did people liked or hated of this game. (by the way no spoilers please)

i'll start with my opinion

The good:

-No more random battles, the only part that i don't like of RPGs is the random battles, but not when i am in a new area but when im going to an old area and weak monsters start attacking and they don't even give a lot of EXP

- license board, it makes the character development, at first i thought, that all my characters would be the same thing because everyone has the same board. however i got very different characters since everyone went in a different path.

- story, i was ok with the romantic story of other final fantasy, but this one is about war. is not very easy to predict.

- gambit system, i like the gambits, i can make gambits for every event or problem, i have gambits for normal battles and gambits for boss battles, and although it sounds like the gambits control the game, there is always
suprise that makes me press X a lot of times

-hunting, hunting monsters is cool, some are really hard and makes for some good not annoying grinding.

- graphics and music, there is no argue although some songs are rather annoying the graphics are really good and the art desing, awesome

-world map, the world map is really cool because every location is conected by a long path (but there is the option of teleport crystals) and the world is really big, i dare to say bigger than the twilight princess world

The bad:

- although no more random battles is something good, the problem is when i want to run, this is a really big issue in many parts of the game where i got attacked by a really hard to beat monster

-license board, it's annoying when i get a cool accessory but i can't use ir because i was busy getting other licenses

- story, the only part of the story i didn't like is that the main character doesn't really feel really important.

-gambit system, that i want to have more commands but i need to get more licenses

-hunting, i hate to go and look for the guy who posted the bill, and once i killed the monster go back and tell him again

-graphics, the seeq look rather ugly but maybe they were meant to be like that, and some songs are repeated many times (giza plains for example)

- world map, well i have to go back to rabanastre, i am in phon coast, and i got no teleport stone, see the problem?

well that's my opinion. but overall it's a good game if you know how to play it

I like your view on the game, but I personally liked it alot. I agree with you alot. Welcome to the forums by the way. :)

don't get me wrong i loved this game, the bad things are just litte issues that i can repair with some license points. jajaja

thank you

well instead of a job system, the game have a license board wich is the way you develop the characters in the game.

when you buy a magic, tech , weapon or armor. you can't use it right away. you need to get license points (that you earn by fighting monstes) to buy the license for all this things

this sounds bad however you can develop characters with their special licenses.

for example, let's say you want vaan to be an specialist in time magic, and with swords, then you purchase the license for these two things and you have swordman who can use time magic. but you have to buy the license by steps i mean first you buy time magic lvl1 and then 2 and 3

yeah it's like the sphere grid but with a lot more freedom

here is a picture

There's not as much freedom with the sphere grid. Once they finished their part of the grid you could move them around, or you could use teleport spheres. But when it came down to it, Lulu was still the black mage, Yuna was the white mage, Rikku was a thief, etc.

FFXII is set up with more freedom. You can make any character anything you want them to be.

In a general sense... yah...

Here's a small picture of what it looks like, you can just google images or whatever to see how big it is

Edit: Dang everybody beat me to it... :lol

i hope it didnt said that bad. I was just saying that i agree with you on the ups and down of the game. And yes license points do wonders. :) :lol

the problem with me is that i got focused on licenses like magic and weapons that i forget about the augments and accesories.

the good thing is that since almost every monster gives you one license point, training in low level places is not worthless, in fact is more easy to get license points in places with low lvl monsters

Bleh, no random battles. And, small world. Twilight Hyrule wasn't big, Colossus was big, Oblivion was big. Not Hyrule. Story, good, 'bout time.

You forgot GTAS san andreas. An I absolutely loved the graphics in FFXII. I could never tell the excact thoughts of a character in any other game just by looking at their face before this game.

That seemed to make no sense to me. :-\

I don't like the lack of random battles, from what he said, the world isn't that big, about time they get a better story.

Oh, ok.

XII is the only FF since VII that I just didn't like. I started off liking it until party members come into play and everything got too cluttered during battles (screw you, gambit system, I'm not lazy enough that I can't do anything by myself...that is the point of a video game). I usually give games second chances though, so I'll try it again sometime I guess.

ok ok i didn't play any of those games and the only comparison i could find was hyrule, but the game does have a big world map.

also the story it starts like fire emblem path of radiance (you know a princess who lost her kingdom) and well after a while the story gets a twist.
i haven't finished the game, i only have 50 hours, but so far the story is pretty good. (except for the quest of the nethicite that was boring)

gambits are optional, i usually don't use gambits in boss battles, because i want to control every move of my characters in sticky situations

im not a big rpg person. thats not to say i have anything against them, i sincerly enjoy a good rpg once in a while

last one i got into was pokemon diamond
