it does happen in the novel.....but not to this extent, if i remember correctly....kyon figures out what he is supposed to do in his first try.... (after they tell him they been looping for 15000 times)

Season 2 is being aired in Japan I hear, I need to watch this, badly. I absolutely loved Season 1.
