The Nintendo DS has been out.. the dust settled... what do you think?

What do you think about the DS right now?


DO you like it a lot? somewhat? not at all?

How do you think it will stack up against the PSP?

I'm pleased with it. I've only played the Metroid demo and Mario 64 DS so I don't have a lot of experience with it yet. But what I've seen so far I think the graphics are better than I expected. The sound is pretty good too.
Against the PSP...hmm...I dunno. That's a hard one. I can see where the mainstream gamers will want the PSP more than the DS. So who knows. I think if there's room in the console market for three systems there is certainly room in the handheld market for two competing systems.
 
I still enjoy my DS, I think it's great hardware. I'm a little disappointed in the current crop of games though. Most of the time, I've got Final Fantasy I&II in my DS, but I know that will change in time.

As far as the PSP, I'm still buying one. I think the competition will be good for the handheld market. And, as said above, it has been a long time since Nintendo had any competition in the handheld arena. This should be interesting.
 
there was one guy that complained about the GBA SP colors being "washed out." In fact, HBO.. .you know who I am talking about from n-g.com

anyway... I thought that was a crock of crap, until I saw the colors on the DS... and how the GBA games looked on the DS screen.

Really... the colors are a little more washed out on the GBA SP... not much... but a little.

While the DS colors are nice and crisp... even with the backlight on.

I put my friends SP next to my DS to compare the screens, and it's true.. the DS screen is much brighter and the colors are more vibrant. You don't really realize how washed out the DS screen is until you compare the two next to each other. There is definitely a difference.
