It's has now gone official, the new handheld to compliment the Nintendo DS, the Nintendo DSi. It's slated for 2009 for us North Americans, later this year in Japan.

LOL I just realized this....you cannot play Guitar Hero DS on it. Phew, that's going to leave a mark.

Hmmm.... never thought of that, all I have been concerned about is the rumble pak.
Do you think that they might keep the DSlite around for a while?

If there is a considerable price difference, I think they will.

It's not supposed to replace the DS. Nintendo is calling it a complimentary handheld. Of course, this probably won't last long.

Alright, good news and bad news

Good News: Region free on DS games

Bad News: Region lock out on all DSi made games

I really hope they keep the DS Lite...most casual gamers are buying the DS Lite because of it's super bargain price. Releasing a $190 new DS model as the only model just doesn't seem smart.

Oh man..they're making games solely for the DSi? :-\

I'll just stick with the DS Lite.

so it's like a next gen portable? that's kinda cool, since i never got a lite i think i will be smart and wait for the DSi :D

Even though I already have a DS Lite, I'll buy this one because I really want it, however, I'll keep my Lite because my GBA won't last long, and I'll be able to play with my dad/mom :D

The DSi was offically released today in Japan. Here's the comparison screen shots of how much better it looks compared the DS Lite.
