The Offical E3 2009 Thread (June 2nd-June 4th, 2009)

Hideo Kojima takes the stage complete with the MGS "Alert" sound! He announces that the Metal Gear Solid franchise is coming to 360. The next game "Metal Gear Solid: Rising" will come to Xbox 360. This one doesn't necessarily star Solid Snake. We are now being shown a trailer for the game. It's about Raiden!

.........now those are shocking news...... i guess my plans of getting a 360 are still up

A new type of control method is being shown off now. It looks it reads by your body movements. It's not really clear yet if there is a camera or something like that. This reminds me very much of any Wii commercial, ever. Now it's more clear. It uses a motion capture device. There also is a camera with facial recognition. It also has voice recognition. This technology is pretty cool, but I'm jut not sure how it can replace a real controller for me. This is called "Project Natal", which is the codename. It will work with all 360s when it gets launched, so you won't have to run out and buy a new console. It looks like they may keep 360 around for more than the common 5 years. Steven Speilburg takes the stage now. He is talking about Project Natal.

The creative director for the project is now on the stage. The motion looks pretty accurate. A tech demo of Natal is being shown. They just took a stab at Nintendo mentioning "waggle controls". The demo is a 3D Breakout-esque game called Ricochet. The next demo is called "Paint Party" You can throw paint on a canvas and change colors by saying which color you want. You can also pose and make objects and it will put your shadow on there. That was pretty cool, hopefully these controls will be as accurate as they look.

i am not sure of what to think about this new motion capture deal..... it looks amazing and i can see a lot of people preferring it over the wii by a long shot.. but no buttons whatsoever kinda takes the option away.....so i don't really know what to think until i play it

Peter Molyneux takes the stage now. Molyneux wants to do something with Natal. There is an interactive AI they have created. This seems pretty cool so far, but I would like to see how it can be used in real games. This will be shown behind closed doors to certain audiences, so we'll know for sure whether this works or not.

And that's the end of the conference. Overall the was pretty good I must say. My favorite announcement was definitely Left 4 Dead 2. I would really like to hear more about that game. I'll be on tomorrow doing the same thing for Nintendo and Sony.

Same. It was a solid keynote I must say.

Gameplay for Alan Wake. People have been waiting to see this game for years, and now we finally get a chance. It plays in third person, with the player holding a shotgun. The game sort of reminds me of Resident Evil, with the view from 4 and 5. Now we get a "To be continued" screen. This game will come out in Spring 2010.

Jesus, about time!! I have been waiting for this game for what feels like 3-4 years now. Good to hear it is moving along, at least.

My shocking announcement was L4D 2. I loved how Alan Wake looked though. I was so hooked to that trailer.

Project Natal was the most mind blowing, and G4 just said it wont come until 2010, so I can wait until then for that. MGS: Rising was interesting. Is the countdown still going on Kojimas site?

Ok. It was decent to say the best. MGSR is the biggest thing that was announced but, I have a feeling it's going to be for PS3 as well. As for the motion controls I want concrete proof. The Wii has had two years and still isn't that accurate and that's just a controller. Staying home from school tomorrow so I can watch all of Sony's Conference.

GAH! I'm ready to slaughter something right now. I missed the entire conference because of school and I can't find it online anywhere. Freaking Gamespot is still encoding. >_>

Anyone know where I can watch it?

Watching EA press conference. They just showed a Dante's Inferno trailer and WTF????? The storyline is barely related to the source material. Why did they even bother using the freaking license?

STAR WARS: THE OLD REPUBLIC.... That cinematic looked sooo good.

Also The Sabatour looked pretty good as well. And Brutal Legend!!!!!

Also Cherry Gamespot is done encoding the Microsoft Conference.

Halo 3 ODST with gameplay is next!. There's an MGS style radio chat between a few troopers, which looks cool. The player is dropping in an obital drop pod, there was an epic scene there. The game takes place in New Mombasa, weeks before the events in Halo 3. The HUD looks a lot cooler now. There are 2 new sound supressed weapons and a new visor that puts you in a low-light vision mode. This one might be more about stealth. The new Pistol has a scope like the Halo 1 pistol! You will flash back to other ODSTs viewpoints in the past. This should give you many different perspectives on the game. There's a brand new Co-op mode called "Firefight". The game will release on September 22.

There's a trailer for a mysterious new game. This game is "Halo: Reach" It will release in Fall 2010. For those that don't know, Reach was the planet in the first Halo book. When you buy ODST, you get a key for the Reach beta.

Epic. Win.

Yeah, definitely. I give MS a C this time around.

People, if you want to watch it from your computers, you can go to gametrailers, IGN, or G4TV.com for live feeds. :)
