Oh come on. User created content shouldn't have to be subject to copyright laws.

Exactly. In my opinion, they're more or less a homage by the user. It takes so long to make a level as detailed as the God of War one or Mario ones.

Re: The LittleBigPlanet Thread

but who is doing this? sony or the companies like EA, and nintendo?

Re: The LittleBigPlanet Thread

I second that! Last night was a blast for the time that we actually got going. :lol

Re: The LittleBigPlanet Thread

I played this game for about 3-4 hours the other day (really it felt like 5 minutes). If you want the short version, I advise every PS3 owner to by this game, get some patience, and wait for the game to click with you. It will, sooner or later, and when it does, you'll be overjoyed with the game. If you want the long version...

I started off playing some of the pre-made levels. They were kind of neat but it got boring pretty quick. My friend and I then went to the "create" a level mode which, as I didn't realize, had an incredibly steep learning curve. After about an hour of playing this game I was both bored and frustrated, not at all what I was expecting from the game. The interface with which to make objects and levels seemed slow, unintuitive, and more of a hinderance than a help to create the level I wanted to.

However, my friend and I started taking the tutorials on how to make objects and levels. Slowly things started to make sense and fall into place. After going through a few tutorials I was making some rudimentary objects that were neat, but still not that interesting. Eventually we got to a set of tutorials that completely changed how I looked at the game. Finding out how LBP incorporated switches, rotating bolts, buttons, and so forth, immediately opened up the game to what I was expecting it to be. All the ideas I originally had for a level in the game instantly became possible, and every tutorial that followed expanded these possibilities exponentially. Eventually it began to feel like having one epiphany after another, and saying "I really wish I could do ____" was almost always immediately followed by a tutorial explaining how to do exactly that. Wrapping one's head around all the different elements and possibilities became, in and of itself, a game, and in a matter of 20 minutes to half an hour I went from being disappointed with the game to being overjoyed with it. Even going back to playing levels, now understanding what it is the creator's had to accomplish, was fun. Not necessarily to play through it, but just to see how it was designed, which then opened up more possibilities for my own level. Playing levels became about appreciating their design and complexity, and just seeing the game was an act of artistic interpretation.

After 4 hours of playing the game I was mentally exhausted. Beginning to realize how much work my level was going to take, breaking everything down to its individual pieces, and visualizing the entire thing as a whole, was enough to make me realize I could literally do nothing but play this game for 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, for months at a time, and it still wouldn't be enough. If you want a game that will last you, on its own, for a full year at least, this is the one.

Fantastic.

Re: The LittleBigPlanet Thread

It's fun isn't it? :D

I've been having more fun running through the story levels with friends lately, seeing as how you're rewarded with more costume options if you complete a level without dying, and more stuff to use in "create mode" by collecting the prize bubbles. :)

Re: The LittleBigPlanet Thread

This game sounds awesome but which game should i get Littlebigplanet or Resistance 2?

The Offical LittleBigPlanet Thread

http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2008/12/16/festive-littlebigplanet-construction-pack-coming-this-week/

The PlayStation Blog is calling the upcoming LittleBigPlanet DLC for this week a "level pack," which is a bit of a misnomer considering it doesn't actually contain any levels. Instead, this festive add-on pack will add construction materials to use in your own level development. This pack will be Christmas themed and will set you back $2.99, but be quick -- it'll only be around until the 8th of January.

For your $2.99 you get the following: Two new costumes (Christmas Tree headpiece and Gift Wrapped Sackboy), one new material (Wrapping Paper), two new items (a festive sleigh and a festive light), six new decorations (including a candy cane and a festive baubel) and, finally, "a ton" of new festive stickers. Not bad value for money, but we'd have loved if the pack had lived up to its name and included a level or two, which you'd need to traverse in order to pick up all these goodies.

Nevermind, we're thankful for what we get and, since LittleBigPlanet's release, we've been getting a lot. The PlayStation Blog article is keen to state that there are more packs on their way. No doubt we'll be grabbing each and every one of them as they appear.
