The Official LEFT 4 DEAD 2 thread (Update: NEW DLC! "COLD STREAM" + MORE!)

Re: The Official LEFT 4 DEAD 2 thread (Update: Big changes for Versus mode)

That rocked and I was happy to see a softer side of Zoey. Sure she's a tough cookie, but no one she got out alive without doing something drastic like this.

Is this military base we're seeing going to be made into a map for the game?

Re: The Official LEFT 4 DEAD 2 thread (Update: Big changes for Versus mode)

probably at one point unless we get a level that shows right after they escape it. So it will be on the outskirts of it or something.

Left 4 Dead fans, I present you the final chapter. The Sacrifice will be ready OCTOBER 5th, 2010. Grab your pills, grab your good ol' fashion cola, and grab your chainsaws. We're going back in.

The trailer. Silent, but deadly.

NAWCE!!!!!! I cannot WAIT for this...

Sometime after APRIL. A brand new campaign for PC, Mac and 360!!

Valve has announced that the next batch of Left 4 Dead 2 DLC will include a user-created campaign known as "Cold Stream." Created by Matthew Lourdelet -- known for his "2 Evil Eyes" campaign -- the as yet unfinished Cold Stream campaign will begin community testing within the "next few weeks."

Oh and guess what else? THREE of the original Campaigns from LEFT 4 DEAD 1 are coming to Left 4 Dead 2!!!!

Death Toll, Dead Air and Blood Harvest

Wow, l4d2 is a total package now. I mean, Left 4 Dead 1 was and still is awesome. But, wow, having additional campaigns, additional weapons and additional special infected is just awesome.

Man, I want to get some Death Aboard campaigns goin' again!

i wonder what the reason behind this is. Wouldnt it make more sense from a business perspective to keep the two games separate? Isn't that why L4D2 wasnt an expansion in the first place?

I wonder just how much this will boost sales of L4D2, and I wonder even more how much Valve expects it to, considering they're practically burying L4D1.

And on another note, does this just not seem lazy to anyone else? Maps from the first game and a map created by a player? Come on, Valve.

Those are great maps, however.

And, though it does lower the value of the first game. The first game is what it was, a simpler version of Left 4 Dead. The gameplay is still more straightforward. It has the same concept, but fewer weapons and fewer special infected.

I am glad that L4D was released when it was instead of Valve waiting. However, I think Left 4 Dead 2 did come a bit early. They could have held off on releasing it 'til all those initial bug fixes were attended.

Either way, Left 4 Dead 2 is becoming a better game now than it was when it was released. For some, the additional maps will leave little reason for L4D 1 to still be installed. I think I'll still keep the first game installed for the fun gameplay it does provide though.

That being said, I still have Starcraft: Brood Wars installed even though I've been playing Starcraft II for months.

It's free dude. I'm fine with it. Do you really expect them to stop there?

Sequels get lame after a while without a major change of format (ex: Warcraft III to World of Warcraft.. same series, major change in gameplay to the point where it isn't even in the same genre). I mean, really, anyone remember how obnoxious Mega Man got after the 4th and 5th sequels until Mega Man X revitalized the series?

It does get me questioning if Left 4 Dead 3 is even a thought at this point. I hope that'll be a few years down the line.

Speaking of Left 4 Dead and Blizzard, there is an official Blizzard Starcraft 2 co-op map called Left 2 Die. It is a modification of the Outbreak chapter in the Wings of Liberty campaign. At night the terran base defends against infested (infected) terrans with new mutated strains; the kaboomer, hunterling, and choker... Sounds a little familiar!

It wont be free on the 360, will it?
And I'm fine with it too, excited, even, I just wish Valve put a little more effort into DLC. Their last few have been disappointing, to some extent, at least.

Are they still supporting 360? I thought they stopped? As for DLC, I have it on Steam so they're all free, so I'm fine with the way it's been. If anyone deserves to be lazy, it's Valve, considering all they've done with the L4Ds, TF2 and CSS.
