Re: The Recently Revealed Nintendo Revolution Controller

Ok, so no one has posted in this for a while. I always thought it would be cool to have a remote like that. Sure, its pretty much a TV remote, but really, this is a new way to interact with games. Plenty of lazy people will have trouble with this. They just wanna lay back and mindlessly push buttons and get entertainment. But this will be cool.

From what I've read, you'll be in something like a digital 3D box so that X, Y, and Z coordinates can be read and understood. I don't see why people have such a problem with this. You will still have the shell to use for those who resist change, and there will be attachments for whatever (most likely they will be included with the games for free). There are some things that could seem to be better, but I really think Nintendo has thought this through before making it. I am caught somewhere in between being fanatically optimistic and saying that I should wait and see exactly what it can do.

Since there has been plenty of new info out for people to read, maybe people have changed their minds about this whole thing.

Revolution's controller: How will we be able to play all the old games with it?

I must admit, the Revolution is starting to peak my curiosity. Not for it's technology mind you (it's basically a GC with a faster CPU :z ) but for it's ability to download and play all the old Nintendo games. If it turns out that the rumours are true and Nintendo plans on making the downloads of 1st party games FREE, (and if the system does indeed come out for $99-$150 like some are reporting) I may end up buying one just for the hell f it. :lol

There is one concern I have though, and that's with the "remote"

It's definitely unique and may very well create all kinds of innovations in terms of gameplay with newer games, so with that in mind, I'll reserve passing judgement until I actually play games that were designed to use the remote. However, I'm curious how Nintendo expects us to be able to play all the old SNES/N64/GC games using this remote. :?

The Revolution's "backwars compatibility" is definetely the system's biggest selling point, no doubt, as it appears to be the only feature Nintendo seems to be advertising. Looking at the remote, it's easy to see that if you flip in horizontally and hold it with both hands as you would a traditional controller, the cross hair and A) B) buttons are located in the exact position they were on the original 8bit NES controller. Playing all the old NES classics shouldn't be a problem since the original NES controller only had two action button's as well.

The question I have is, how will we be able to play the SNES/N64/GC games :? I mean, how would you be able to play games like Street Figher from the SNES or Resident Evil 4 from the GC using only 2 botton's ?

Surly, the designers at Nintendo must have thought about this right? Is there some sort of peripheral Nintendo hasn't showed us yet? Maybe some sort of attachment that allows us to hook up and use our original SNES/N64/GC controller's? I don't know.

I've searched everywhere to trying to find out if the Revolution has any kind of output's besides the standard A/V output which would allow us to attach and use the original controller's but can't seem to find anything.

The only thing I can think of is that maybe Nintendo plans on releasing different controllers for the system once it comes out. Maybe they'll release "cordless" copies of all their previous system's controller's?

Being able to play all the old games is definitely cool and will bring back memories for a lot of gamers and being able to play them using the origional controller (or a wireless version of it) would only make for a more authentic experience for us gamers who lived through the 8 and 16 bit days as well as allowing newer (younger) gamers who maybe weren't even around back then :lol to get a better idea of what gaming was like back in the 80's/ early 90's before the arrival of the Sony and MS system's....

What do you all think Nintendo's going to do about it's controller options? Surely they're not so dumb as to expect us to play everything on a two button remote. .......... Or are they ??? :lol

Re: Revolution's controller: How will we be able to play all the old games with it?

Actually, it seems they are dumb enough to think that. :lol

And with that, this thread comes to an end.

Well, as far as I know (though I can't confirm it) there will be shells that the remote plugs into (either one for each system or one for the gamecube which could possibly act for all the older systems).

Maybe somone could look into it.

Re: Revolution's controller: How will we be able to play all the old games with it?

Hmmm, when I get home, I'll look into that. That's interesting.

Re: Revolution's controller: How will we be able to play all the old games with it?

yeah... there is a shell the remote sits in for older cube games... and what not.

I am very excited about the rev controller.... hopefully it is as good as I am thinking.... because the controller motion can be used as "mouse look."  Say that you are playing metroid prime... you could use the controller to look around instead of holding R or whatever button you needed to use.

there willl be other functionality for that as well...  very cool stuff though.

Umm, just out of curiosity, what is the XBox 360? Or the PS3? They are basically the same as theyre predecessors, just with better CPUs. No?

Ok, so they each have their own unique characteristics, right? I think Nintendo has made the most change from one this generation to the next.

Thats exactly what the PS3 and Xbox 360 are. Anyways, yes there is going to be a shell that is made for it so that you can play all the old games (look into the topic I made about the revealing of the controller here: http://www.egameaddiction.com/forums/index.php?topic=3031.0 ). It is still unknown if it will be included but for GC owners they can still plug in their GC controllers.

Re: Revolution's controller: How will we be able to play all the old games with it?

That would be a good idea but I doubt it....I think they're only keeping this controller/wand that they have right now.

What idea are you talking about? :-\ If you mean the GC controller then, yes, you can use those on the Revolution.

Re: The Recently Revealed Nintendo Revolution Controller

It does look a little funny but as long as I can tap the main buttons easy its good with me

Re: The Recently Revealed Nintendo Revolution Controller

I sorta like it but then again, I saw a pic of it and I think there are to many buttons that don't need to be there...I like the gamecube controller, maybe if they make it really small and turn it into a revolution controller

What are your opinions on them.I personally am not too fond of them, but lets hear your opinions?

To get this thread going,I think the nunchuck/remote combo will be hard to get used to.Yes,it has great potential, but since when do things ever reach theirs?I would like for Nintendo to make a traditional controller, and give you an option to buy the nunchuck/remote combo for an extra payment,or just a traditional controller with purchase.I think it will more likely frustrate the players than reach it's potential. So once again, what are your thoughts?
