Thirteen year old kills himself after being told he could not play Wii

Once again, nobody's blaming the Wii. It's because he could not PLAY the Wii. Not the Wii itself.

I wasn't singling out a single person blaming the Wii, although I could do so now that made that statement. I was writing in response to the statement at the bottom of the article, and as such was speaking to the potential thoughts of anti-video game activists. The part I responded to reads:

I don't think it has a thing to do with the Wii itself, but I have no doubt tragedies like this will only provide more ammo for anti-games activists.

To avoid confusion, I'll add it to my previous post.

i guess you should read more carefully to notice that it wasn't the wii itself, it was
1. the kid had serious mental problems.
2. the kid did not have a good relationship with his family.
3. like strubes already pointed (if you cared to read the thread) the kid never got to even play the wii so it can't be the wii's fault.

seriously would it hurt you to stop baiting at least once :/?

WOW!

I was making fun of people who blame the Wii!

No, you were baiting and saying the Wii sucks, but in a way where you can make it seem harmless.

Trust me, I do the same thing.

Your recent Wii track record shows you'd more than love to get an easy flame in, though.

This is sad. There could be other reasons for the suicide. The Wii just happens to before the event. I don't know. I can't blame anything at the moment.

Wow, people here have at least ethics.

Gamefaqs, you leave them at the door. Hell, half of the people there were still figuring out at why the kid was trying to "play a computer game on his Wii (as though the words weren't interchangeable). That and half of the 200 posts were more or less poking fun at the article.

Everytime someone tries to blame a random act of violence on video games (or violent movies or whatev), I tell them that if you feel the need to go out and kill someone (or yourself), you have a lot more issues than video games. Video games may have given you the specific idea, but regardless, they are not to blame. This kid obviously had a lot of mental health issues. Sad to hear :'(. Thirteen damn years old. . . .

Dang. If my kids get mental over a videogame system, I'm cuffing them to the floor.

Kids these days. It's all that rap music. ::)
