This makes me sick...

Not quite. They're in the shelter, but if they don't get picked within a few months, they put them to sleep to save money. They get meals and aren't abused in shelters, ya know.

I can't stand shelters... Like Fhq said, they give them a few months for someone to come pick them out, but if they don't make them any money, they kill them.

Torture and starvation? Are you talking about in shelters? They treat them well while they are in there, I had a couple friends who volunteered at shelters and one of my friends who worked at a pet store.

By the way, we checked their gender today. The largest one's a male, and the two others are girls.

I don't think Kaz was speaking about torture or neglect in a shelter. I think he was meaning that they could have been in a household that could care less whether the cats lived or died, or end up in a kill shelter. Because let's face it; if the cats (or dogs) don't get adopted, they will end up getting put down.

Oh, and Alee. make sure they are fixed soon! these cats were unwanted at one time. There's no need to continue the process!

Well, he said 'rather put down chemically than be starved and tortured', implying that they would either be taken and put to sleep right away or that the owners have said chemicals.

I work with the general public, and have managed to learn how to pick up on the meaning even though the wording is completely the opposite of what was said. Yes doesn't always mean yes, and no doesn't always mean no. His wording to me didn't match what he was trying to say, but I understood that he was comparing two possible scenarios that could have happened to those kittens had Alee's mom not stepped in.

i wish my cats were the little again. they are still really really cute, but not as cute when they were that little. i'm glad they are doing better and i hope they make a full recovery.

You guys seem to have a lot of compassion in your hearts, that's rare these days.Don't ever lose it,because you will never get it back.

Thank you.

With respect to your comment,I must respectfully disagree.I would certainly rather see see some of the poor animals put down chemically, then to have them live a life of torture and starvation.

You do know, our tax dollars keeps those animals alive, right? I wouldn't see an animal die chemically by a landslide.

I don't think they are tortured or starving in those shelters actually. Yet the only thing I think, is how some are very unsanitary

It's amazing how a thread about Alee and her mom rescuing three kittens has mushroomed into a PETA platform on how we shouldn't kill animals in otherwise overcrowded shelters. In my own personal opinion, an animal who has outlived the fad and is discarded because the owner has decided that it's no longer "cute" is the root cause. That part of our throwaway society should be hated, and not the seemingly cruel but unfortunately necessary kill shelters. Do I hate animals? No. I have a cat that was rescued from a kill shelter. My wife found him in an ad on Craigslist just days before his stay was to expire. Unfortunately he is the minority.

I don't think Kaz is making statements that are rooted in malice. He's being rather plain. And I have to agree. It's unfortunate, but euthanizing animals can be better than having that same animal living on the brink of death due to starvation and neglect.

Never did I say that killing animals was wrong, merely hypocritical. The way I see it, you rather have contempt for all life or tolerance for all life and putting one form of life on a pedestal, is hypocritical in my mind. So I don't think a government can call it a crime to kill a person, then legally kill thousands of animals on a daily basis without falling into the realm of hypocracy. I would like to leave it at that, as I could write several hundred pages on this topic, but I simply don't have the time or the will to do that here. Rather than explore the issue in depth, I would prefer to give a brief overview of my feelings on it and leave it at that.
