If Halo 3 is more of the same, Brawl is even more of the same.

Halo 3, outside of actual content likes guns and vehicles etc, adds online co-op, saved films, and Forge mode. Plus equipment adds a lot of depth to combat.

Outside of actual content (characters, items, levels, etc), what is Brawl adding to Super Smash Brothers? Online play is about it.

You'll have to point out where I said Brawl was innovative. It's going to be frickin' sweet though for fans of Melee.

You never said it outright. However, you said Halo 3 wouldn't win GotY because it is more of the same, yet you said Brawl would win GotY.

No no no, I'm not saying Halo 3 wont win. I think it'll be between that, GTA4 and Bioshock. That was all my own criticism. Unfortunately, as Strubes pointed out once, millions of people disagree with me. :-\

Maybe we could break it down by system to even it out. :)

360 = Bioshock
Wii = Super Mario Galaxy (IMO)
PS3 = um.....no idea
PS2 = Odin Sphere
DS = no idea (but probably not Pokemon)

Well, GOTY is not necessarily how the game sales, but how the critics rate it. Although actually thinking about, God of War II is more likely to get PS2 GOTY in both sales and critical acclaim.

PS3, I would think Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.

The problem with doing that is the 360 seems to have the most major contenders, which are more likely to get Goty than Odin Sphere (sorry, but it didn't get the reviews it needed I think...plus it flew under the radar mostly) or Phantom Hourglass (DS GOTY IMO), so I don't think its entirely fair.

Well that's why speculating about it is fun, right? Because we really don't know who will win, even though we have a few ideas in mind. :)

What is wrong with all of you guys, you know that GOTY is going to be Bullet
witch.geez guys ::)

I'm not debating whether or not Brawl is more "innovative" than Halo 3, but I would like to defend Brawl a little bit. For one, the inclusion of Smash Balls adds the focus of "ultimate attacks" into the game. Assist Trophies are a completely new concept that satisfies both players looking for their favorite characters in Brawl and people looking to strategize. Debatably, there is also the focus of a new Single Player adventure mode confirmed. Stickers add a good amount of replay value to the game, and Online play will of course revolutionize the fighting genre (there aren't many fighting games online, much less popular ones).

Just pointing that out. Not comparing it to Halo 3.

Now, on the subject of Halo 3 and Brawl. They both are not games set out to completely change their genre. Halo is a shooter and will always be, and Brawl is a fighter and will always be. That won't change. The only thing that the games can actually do is build off of their individual genre's concept, so in fact it is not worth comparing the two. They are in seperate genres, so an accurate comparison is nigh impossible. The only factual basis of comparison of the two would be population and sales, really.

Just my opinion on the matter.
