All Local Burglar Wanted Was A Cheese Sandwich
A Central Texas man who evidently broke into a Killeen residence Monday in search of a cheese sandwich remained in the Bell County Jail Wednesday.
Police caught the man putting the finishing touches on a cheese sandwich early Monday morning after responding to a 911 call from the paraplegic resident of the home who said she was alerted to the intruder by her dogs.
When officers arrived, they ordered the man, who was still working on the sandwich, to turn around.
He didn’t.
Instead he opened the refrigerator, took out a jar of mayonnaise and then used a knife to spread it on the cheese he had already cut up for the sandwich.
Then he put the knife in the sink, raised his hands and surrendered, police said.
Johnny Ray Williams, 51, was charged with burglary of a habitation in connection with the break-in.
Bond was set at $50,000.
