Trouble with Neo Geo Cd

Hey I just bought a used Neo Geo cd from Ebay.  The system turns on and all and I get the Neo Geo cd screen, but the cd is never loaded as the cd never begins to spin. Does anyone know what the problem might be?? If anyone might know a solution please let me know I appreciate it.

thank you
Marcus

Welcome to the boards :)  We hope to see you around!  Enjoy your stay :D

1st off... if you can, return that system.  It sounds like the drive is dead.
If you need help getting a system, I have a few in stock @ the store.... most are near mint in box though.

Is there a clicking noise when the CD tries to spin? This can be caused by the sled being slightly off.

Also, does the cd spindle rotate freely and effortlessly? (becareful when trying to spin it :) )

does the cd interface (after you start the neo cd) state "press start"?

Hey thank you for your post, it's highly appreciated! I've been looking for a neo geo cd for years now and I finally got one and it's not working! Well to answer your questions: 1)It does not make a click when I turn the system on. 2) the spindle does rotate effortlessly when I try to spin it, what does that mean? the only thing that pops on the screen is the cd player interface, nothing else...so I guess that means no "press start" How much are you charging for the neo geos? The one I got came with 2 controllers and 6 games, any package deals like that? I would be highly interested! Thank you so much for your time

Marcus

yeah....  that sounds like your drive is totally bad.

Does the music information come up at all?  and if you "click" the play button for the onscreen cd player... does it play music?

IF SO:
Did you try pressing start once the music info came up?

The music info should have a "track list" ..... you would see the info come up.

the Game Addiction store is located:
https://ssl3.chi.us.securedata.net/egameaddiction.com/merchantmanager/

Our Neo CD systems are a bit more expensive... I bet you paid less for your package.
We are out of unboxed systems... which typically run $120-145 at the store....

The boxed ones we have are $182.50 - 185 at this time. BUT we guarantee them to work for 30 days.  Everything is cleaned... etc.
Game Addiction has the Internet's largest selection of Neo CD's as well... we have about 123 listings right now on the cart.

If interested, I can help you out there :)
but if the cd player info doesn't come up... I definitely would be returning the Neo cd... and try to get another one.

You should like the Neo CD though... its a great system :)

I feel bad for you, because it sounds to me like your systems cd drive is totally dead. You need to try your best to get it returned to the seller, and you should really consider buying one from Bluevoodo, he is a highly reputable seller...and his items are top quality. Theres really no other explaination that I can think of though, besides the drive is just dead if there's no activity with it at all.

Would you mind telling me what seller you bought this system from on ebay? You can send me a personal message if you do not want to say it out in the open.

I hope your problems were solved or you are getting a refund :)

If you have more questions, please post them up :)

Not a problem at all.

Glad we could be a help to you :)

I sure hope the guy can get a refund...some of those ebay sellers are dodgy and refuse to refund faulty electronics equipment. Never buy from some one who says "sold as is" or "works fine now...no gaurantee how it will work upon arrival".

Bluevodoo is one of the few guys out there that will give you peace of mind with a warranty, and believe me thats priceless.

Hi everyone. It's my first post in the board. :)

My Neo has something like that. It's a clicking noise when the first loading starts/finish (in the "Push Start" screen.

How I get rid of this?

If your reffering to a click noise right after the disc spind on loadup..thats fairly normal..but sometimes can be loader than other times..if the system works fine otherwise..no problems with playing the games..no crashing..no i/o read errors...I would not worry about it.

CD systems can make odd noises when they load data...mine consistintly makes a slight clunk noise right after the disc spins at start up and then stops spinning. Sometimes there will also be a very slight clicking sound as it reads the disc when loading data.

Normal? That's strange, because I remember younger systems don't making any sound.

Mine is like a machine gun when the game is being detected, a noise like a "trtrtrtrtrtrt..." ( :p)

But if it's not a problem, or can't make any damage to the Neo, fine. Thanks for help.
