Re: Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 on X360 and PS3 February 15th

Joystiq had a chance to play it and was quite underwhelmed. They had issues with the following:

-Recovery from attacks only takes about 1 frame.
-Real slow. It doesn't feel like Marvel vs. Capcom
-Wesker is super overpowered.
-Arthur has limitless projectiles that render getting close useless.

Re: Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 on X360 and PS3 February 15th

its just different, it is going to take a while getting used to those things but I am pretty sure It will be no problem... after all TVC was not exactly MVC2 either and I enjoyed that game and brawl was not like melee either and I enjoyed that. Maybe it is because of the fact that I already know it is going to be different so my expectations are also different from others who, like the article pointed out, may want more of the same.

Joystiq's preview was garbage. They obviously didn't really play that many games of MVC3 or even MVC2 if you read the full article. The speed of MVC3 has already been decided to be between MVC2 and TVC. Capcom has expressed from the beginning that this wasn't going to be no where near MVC2. People are easy to forget that at the time MVC2 was slow, over time it got faster and faster.

Arthur may have "limitless" projectiles but you still have to input the commands for these. He isn't going to be like a Hell Shooter. There are ways to get in. Plus he is slower and floats more than the other characters. Wesker isn't as OP as they made him out to be. The person that wrote the preview couldn't get around Arthur's Zoning so that must mean that character/tactic must be cheap/OP, just like how fireballs and uppercutting the opponent when they jump in are cheap in Street Fighter... oh wait....

Not every move is going to recover as fast as they "assume". They assumed that the attacks recovered in only 1 frame. And to be hit by a Hyper Combo and then be able to unleash your own and actually hit is dumb. The opponent obviously wasn't blocking or was pressing a button.

I would also like to point out that most of the press that did go to the CES MVC3 event (that was streamed) were in fact mashing buttons or just playing in versus mode with no one else playing.

EDIT #2: I would double also like to point out that this isn't the full cast.

Re: Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 on X360 and PS3 February 15th

Recently i've been watching the new videos shown in gametrailers because i wanted to see if what the preview was true and I did notice in a fight of Arthur vs Dante that he is very floaty and slow. it didn't really seem slower than TVC.

but yeah I will agree with you frodus the preview did sound like the person just didn't spend enough time playing the game to understand the mechanics behind it.

Who will be in She-Hulks ending. Along with Miles Edgeworth.

Here are some thoughts on some of the characters that haven't been played with aside from a Capcom event in Portugal and CES since all previous playable builds have been from TGS. These are also thoughts from Keits, a pro TVC player, who also got 3rd at the CES MVC3 "Secret" Tournament, which was won by EG Marn (First Place) and EG Justin Wong (Second Place):

Impressions - This felt pretty much the same as the TGS build. Not a lot had changed, other than X-Factor's scaling being in place, and having a lot more selectable characters.

MODOK - Awkward. Up doesn't jump, it flies, and it can be really difficult when you accidentally go into this fly mode and just want to land. It takes a lot of time to learn to move around with him and figure out where his normals go, and figuring out where all his projectiles go will be key to making him a terror. Even doing a basic air combo with him takes a little finesse. All in all, he seems powerful, but has quite a learning curve.

Arthur - Awkward. Contrary to the Portugal reports, Arthur can double jump in this build. The lack of a ground dash makes moving with him very difficult, and learning which projectile goes where is very important. You cannot refresh his golden armor. You have to wait for it to end, summon new armor (silver), and then upgrade to gold again. He is pretty darn hard to win with right now.

Magneto - Very fast, easy to combo with from any range. Great projectile, Force Field assist was interesting, but he was hit out of its startup a few times and I stopped using it. Air combos are easy, but he doesnt get much damage in the corner from OTG shockwave. Very versatile character.

Storm - She is SO good! Slower than in MvC2, and a little less range maybe, but loaded with options and damage. Air lightning super doesn't cause a free-fall, so DHCs are hard. Hail Storm hitting OTG is crazy, and it does so much chip damage. She will be very popular.

Spider-Man - I stopped playing him quickly because of his floaty jump. Jumping feels like Dhalsim almost, and I wasnt getting used to web zip very quickly. Wish I'd played him more, but he wasn't clicking for me right away and time was short.

Tron - Played her once. She seemed good, but drills traded with stuff a lot. Getting just one hit from her drill vs even a weak attack is not a good trade.

Relax. Just pointing out what they thought. It is, of course, just their opinion on the game.

I wasn't posting towards you. Just the joystiq article itself. Out of all the previews so far, their's has been the one of the only ones that complained without really spending time with the game or even researching.

Re: Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 on X360 and PS3 February 15th

After the leak yesterday Hsien-ko and Sentinel are officially announced. Either this is the last character announcement or Capcom has 1 more which they have kept hush hush about. But seeing as they are full of leaks I think this confirms all of the characters in MVC3.

Re: Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 on X360 and PS3 February 15th

I was hoping for MMX too. This game is definitely not going to feel like the past MvCs.

It's more TVC than MVC.

you get no complaints from me XD.

but in all honesty i've been suffering from "roster disappointment syndrome" too much.... with many crossover fighting games like these. Always when you know the final roster is set in stone you kind of still wished they could have added more.

Re: Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 on X360 and PS3 February 15th

There's always some hope for DLC

Viewtiful Joe and Arthur are definitely going to be my favorites :D

As for a third guy, dunno. Haggar, Spencer, Captain America, a Hsien-ko are all characters I like so dunno who I'd choose for a third slot.

Now if Gene was in the game ;D
