Re: 3DS Date (NA & Euro) confirmed and price? $249.99!

I was hoping for $250. This is superb news. :D

So many wonderful launch titles, so little money.
I plan to get it on release. ;)

Re: 3DS Date (NA & Euro) confirmed and price? $249.99!

Yes!! I was almost certain it was gonna be $250, but great to be confirmed. It's been so long since I've been excited about gaming, but I can't wait for this :D

Re: 3DS Date (NA & Euro) confirmed and price? $249.99!

I'll wait for the next version. You can get a PS3/360/Wii for cheaper than that.

Re: 3DS Date (NA & Euro) confirmed and price? $249.99!

Sure, but those are old systems {by todays standards} and this is brand new. And those aren't handhelds, either. And if you compare it to the PSP Go which launched at $250, the 3DS is a steal...Either way, nobody really cares, buy what you want when you want.

Furthering my point. You can have a console which has multiple advantage over a handheld. You're paying more for....mobility? But as you said, buy what you want when you want. Agreed.

that is arguable.... for some people a handheld has more advantages than a console... and like X2 said the PSP go was priced the same at first so having the 3DS being that price does not bother me at all (after all the reasons why i didn't get a go did have nothing to do with its price)

You're comparing apples to oranges and to be honest it's a silly argument. It's like comparing laptops to desktops. The smaller, portable laptop will always COST more to produce, therefore they will cost more then a comparative desktop model. Same thing applies for consoles vs handhelds.

Well, the PSP Go failed..so... :lol

Invalid. The PS3, 360, and Wii were all priced higher than the 3DS at initial release so the laptop vs desktop argument is kinda null. And it's a good argument to have. Especially for the average consumer. It turns into what you want more? And for me, it's not a must buy off the gate. 30 games at launch. Only two look okay at best. I'm not excited for remakes with 3D graphics (if they're $40 it will be a joke). I'm sure the 3DS will get great games, and I'm excited to get one. But I'll either wait for a price drop or until a newer model is announced or hinted at a few months after it comes out.

And as you said, buy what you want when you want. Disregarding a reason I'm not getting one at launch won't change my stance on it.

Re: 3DS Date (NA & Euro) confirmed and price? $249.99!

lol "invalid". Again, it's apples to oranges. The price of a console is not going to factor in to anybodies decision of whether a a handheld is too expensive or not. Should I tell somebody who wants a nice laptop that a cheaper desktop can do more? No, that would be pointless because they want a laptop for portability. And the Go failed because it was overpriced for what it was, the 3DS is priced very fair for what it is.

Re: 3DS Date (NA & Euro) confirmed and price? $249.99!

Only reason is because it's just too easy. I could dig up hundreds of articles stating somebodies opinion on why the 3DS is too expensive and conversely I could dig up hundreds of articles stating why it's not. We'll just have to agree to disagree on this one!

It's informative, too. It spotlights how Nintendo is launching this thing way too early in order to launch within its fiscal year. Is that something you should be doing to your fans? No. But Nintendo is sort of banking on the fact that people see "3D" in the title and that makes them turn off their brains and open their wallets.

And plus- early adopters ALWAYS get the short end of the stick. And look at their history with handhelds. This goes all the way back to the GBA days. And it only took them 10 years to add color graphics.

lol exactly. Also noticing how most of the features are missing at launch. This is a rushed release to make it look good for Nintendo this fiscal year.

Read the Fine Print about "Transferring Software" from one 3DS to another.

While we've known about the ability to transfer DSiWare to the 3DS for a while now and learned today about transferring software between devices (DSiWare, 3DSWare and Virtual Handheld), we've just found out that there will be a limit to how many license transfers you can make. From Play.com's product details:

System Transfer which enable users to transfer already purchased software from one Nintendo 3DS system to another. DSiWare purchased for the Nintendo DSi or the Nintendo DSi XL can also be transferred into a Nintendo 3DS system.**

**There is a limit to how many times transfers can be made. Some software may not be transferred

We've yet to learn whether this will limit transfers per game, total transfers per system or transfers within a period of time. Judging from what we've seen of the operating system, it appears that this feature will come after the system's release via an upgrade. How do you feel about this stipulation?

For those who are familiar with the PS3. It's essentially the same rules.

Re: 3DS Date (NA & Euro) confirmed and price? $249.99!

So what if its being released early and the reason is for nintendo to look good this fiscal year? I don't care... both my wii and my DS were bought close to launch time and i only upgraded to DSlite after many many years. Unlike many i don't feel cheated when a new version of my handheld/console is released as long as i can still play its games and the darn thing works I am happy with it.. it just means that if something were to happen to my handheld/console where i would need to buy a new one i can pick something better, that's the way I view it and that's the way it has always been for me.

just like the PSP the 3DS will have firmware updates to add those features later just like the Wii did. So I don't see the difference from buying now and buying later... besides I don't need millions of games at launch due to the fact that i'll probably be buying 1 or 2 and I already have those 2 picked... I also don't care if the launch sells poorly because it is so rushed I just want to play the games that I am excited for and the rest can go to hell....true it is nice to know something you like has been becoming popular and sold pretty well but it is not the end of the world if it doesn't besides if i did care about sales that much i wouldn't have all the games I have now.

Can't wait- you know a console's launch is in the toilet when they have to use a Ridge Racer. I swear Namco must have coded copies in reserve just in case a console company doesn't want to, you know, put any thought or effort into its launch lineup.

Yea kinda like the PS2 huh? Cause you know, that system didn't do well at all ::)

I just recently imported 2 of the best handheld games ever (Jump Ultimate Stars and Rhythm Tengoku) and love that my GBM and DSi weren't region locked. This is pretty upsetting.
Great choices man!

I recommend the Ouendan games as well. :D

And don't forget the PS1's launch title was Ridge Racer as well ;) Which didn't do well either!

It's lazy. And, you have your opinion and I'll have mine.

The PS3...ouch. Yeah, didn't sell great at the beginning. But, at least now it picked up. :)

Point: The Ridge Racer franchise has been in steady decline for a while now. Hence why Ridge Racer for the 3DS is also nothing to be excited about. ;)

He's not a troll. He just has a different opinion and is outspoken. Kinda like me. :D
