unofficial Eternal Sonata hype thread!!

I lost excitement for Lost Odyssey when sites said it might be the first game to make Oprah's must-buy list because of it's romance. :lol
:lol

I'm thinking about downloading it. Too bad my router's screwed up right now (My neighbors are too stupid to use a secure network so I'm using theirs lol).

Well I do like the concept of Lost Odyssey. From what I understand, it tells the story of a man who cannot die, and it goes through 1000 years of his life. You get to see his friends and family and people he loves die while he continues living.

Actually it sounds kind of depressing if you think about it like that. :lol

I actually reserved it like 2 years ago when it was first announced, but I haven't been following it lately since I heard about Eternal Sonata. And that's mostly because Eternal Sonata is made in part by the Tales team, and I'm sure you all know how big a fan I am of the Tales series. :)

OMG! Eternal Sonata has offline co-operative play for up to four people!!!!

How come I didn't notice this before? Did any of the previews mention that?

Anyway, on to my point.

9.0 from Play magazine.

+ Original story, multiplayer battles, amazing scenery, bilingual dubbing

- Lengthy (but skippable) cut-scenes, limited exploration

The same issue of Play has a huge pullout poster of Eternal Sonata. I'm so happy!!!!!

That's awesome. Great find Mai!

I'm even more excited for this game. The cut-scenes are lengthy. That's fine with me. Limited exploration is ok, not that big of a deal for a starter RPG. They didn't have any gripes about the game being short, so that's awesome. It all just sounds great. :D

EDIT: I just found a nifty little trick. If you listen to the title screen music until it stops (in about 30 seconds or so) you see one of three cut-scenes. You can do this three times in a row to see all three. :)

Ever wonder what inspired the game makers to use Chopin?

Eternal Sonata

One day, as I happened to turn on the TV, there was a program on the International Chopin Piano Competition that takes place in Warsaw, Poland once every five years. It was a program following the Chinese pianist, Yundi Li and his performance in the 14th Frederick Chopin International Piano Competition in 2000. At the time, I was struck by his magnificent performance and realized what a great piece of music it truly was.

I’ve always liked music by Chopin and have heard about the Frederick Chopin International Piano Competitions on numerous occasions, but it was not until seeing those top pianist from all over the world compete that I got the urge to want to share this wonderful music with those who are not necessarily interested in classical music.

If not for that TV program, Eternal Sonata would probably never have been created. By the way, Yundi Li was the winner of the 14th Chopin Competitions mentioned above. Ironically, the winner of the Chopin Competitions before Yundi Li 15 years ago was Stanislav Bunin, who performs all Chopin’s music in Eternal Sonata!

Music often gets overlooked and has the tendency to take a backseat role in a video game. However, we wanted the music to play a central role in Eternal Sonata. We wanted the player to hear as well as feel the music as it really should be played. This is the reason we asked Mr. Bunin to perform Chopin’s musical pieces in the game. When we approached Mr. Bunin with this idea, he was very excited and agreed to it right away. I hope you will enjoy Chopin’s music in Eternal Sonata.

This game is going to just simply own my soul, and unless Persona 3 pushes it to the side, I'm going to have to give it the best RPG of the year, even over Blue Dragon (I'm sad to say) I can honestly say that this is the best looking game, in terms of style, that I've seen in years. Plus the soundtrack, is absolutely beautiful *Is a sucker for classical music*

I had the demo downloaded of the Japanese server as soon as it was up, and I was just completely shocked by how much I enjoyed it, I didn't expect it to win over Blue Dragon... but there you have it. Its now on pre order, and I can see this being the best RPG in quite some time.

I agree completely. Eternal Sonata is going to be a gem of a game.

Strubes have you played Odin Sphere? I think you would like it a lot. I couldnt get into it, but i think you would enjoy it

Nah, haven't had a chance to play it yet. I have a ton of games I'm picking up within the next 4 months or so...so I'll probably get Odin Sphere when it's a greatest hit.
