V_V (failing college courses)

you'll see, but you wouldn't understand now cuz you haven't finished school

well yes, but im homeschooled, i know what my own question is, and i am winning

I done finished skool also. Ick. That was bad. Now ask me what?

When I was in school (finished ten years ago), all I wanted to do was get the heck out. I failed American History one year because my teacher was an idiot and couldn't get dates right to save his own life. I'd correct him, and he would get mad. I hated my math class. Passed with a B my sophomore year and rarely showed up. My English class was cool. Took law related English classes and aced them all.

And what did I learn while in school?? My art teacher was single and hot, chicks dig fast cars and my dad created a legend that my brother and I continued.

You are the gots good grammar.

The sad thing is, though, you've learned more than most people. What I don't get about school is most of the stuff they teach you, you never need or never remember.

Well, the way I saved my sanity while going through the rotten and broken institution that is the public school system, is it's not what they teach you that matters, it's the applications you will learn afterwards.

Here's what I mean. Art class doesn't teach you to draw the crap that is not even worthy to grace a refridgerator. It teaches you to observe your surroundings better than the next guy.

Math teaches you to think on your feet. Yeah, 1+1=2 is helpful for doing your taxes and balancing your checkbook. Numbers for me have a way of making me think fast and not sound like an idiot. I pay some schmuch to do my taxes, by the way.

History is supposed to instill some pride in knowing that your ancestors are responsible for devastating, ruining, dominating, or otherwise erase another culture.

English is supposed to help with your communication. Tis better to be silent and be thought of as wise, Mr. Twain once said, than open your mouth and remove all doubt. But if you have to speak, do it in such a way that people will not think you are a complete idiot. Polititians, pay attention.

PE is to make sure you know how not to become fat. And to check out the ladies.

Science is the coolest of the subjects. I loved chopping up a drugged up frog and learn how to mix chemicals up to blow things up or stink out your next class.

But the best and most memorable class I had was lunch. :D That's where the real learning comes in. I mean, where else can you learn how to get into a fight, get out of a fight, or see if that girl in your third period really likes you. And this is the only thing I can see that homeschoolers miss out on. But I could be wrong. After all, I was never homeschooled. Well, I was rarely ever home.

ok, about the "if your homeschooled your not socialized" thing, Dart, what did you do in school, let me guess, for eight or nine ors a day, you sat in a room, with people exactly your own age, and did exactly the same thing, right?

Well, not always. But most of the time, yes. But my intention is not to start an argument about homeschool versus public (?) schooled. Because for one, I don't care. And for two, I don't care. There are pros and cons of each. Teachers can be impotent in their performance and parents can be crazy. There can be the exact same possibility of a homeschooler and a public schooler being involved in gangs later on or even drugs.

Or in homeschooling, you sit alone for 'eight to nine hours' every day.

The thing is, you actually are socializing during those hours (actually its more like 6 or 7 for me). Yes, I am sitting around for hours on end, but I'm also constantly talking and interacting with my friends. That's why there's such a disadvantage to homeschooling, you don't get as much social interaction.

Dart: Question, have you EVER sat in a room, with people exactly your age, doing exactly the same thing for 8 or nine hours a day since you finished school? gangs and doppees ussually aren't christians, you didn't start an argument, i just needed an adults opinion. and my teachers were crazy, my parents aren't, you're right there, homeschool works really good for us for several reasons as an example, my father haul Co2 in alabama and missisippi and ussually dont get home until 9:00. when we were in public school, we had to be in bed by 7:45. some people, homeschool wouldn't work so well. as in, single parent, both of your parents work ect...

@fhqwhgads: no, you're wrong. because we dont have to wait for any other kids to finish it sometimes only takes us an hour to finish a short day. normally we spend 3-5 hours on a normal day, upside, some people say we have no homework, i say, its all homework :) And, if we have to work at the store, or need to go to church to help with something, we can just take our books with us, and do school in the van. We can do school just about anywhere. And, no we dont sit around alone. Sometimes, we get all the homeschoolers in marshal county togeth and stufy like that. kids that aren't always our age. Most kids who are public schooled dont know how to start a conversation with an adult. Did you know that? plus, we can take field trip 10 times a year whatever day we want, if we dont have enough days for vacation, we can simply take it with us. Monday, we help at the church, with a few of the other homeschoolars, sometimes, we do school together if we haven't already finished it. Tuesday, We do marshal county christian co-op, which is a group of christian homeschoolars that do school for 8 hours and we take chemestry, economics, prealgebra, ect... and we also do a Terrific Tuesday fieldtrip with our church. Wednessday we go to church, and take tennis lessons with the rest of the marshal county christian homescool group, Thursday, my sister takes gymnastic classes and we spend a few hours in the library for library research reports, book reports, ect... Friday, we go to the baptist campgroung and have church services there, Saturday, is ussually the only day we have nothing to do except catch up on school (if we're behind) and sunday, morning services, then we help out at noon, and then have our afternoon service at 6:00-8:00.

@ murderous fruit: it is not a social disadvantage, the problem is, your friends, your age right? like i saud above generally public schoolars dont, CANT start a conversation with someone out of thier age level. its not a disadvantag anymore than public school. As a matter of fact, i get more time with my friends, which range from 7 year olds to seventeen year olds (im almost 13) in four days of the week than i ever got with my friends in public school because they couldn't talk during class, all of our teachers were strict, we weren't even allowed to talk in the hallway. We're so involved in our church, most of the homeschoolars are there. Monday tuesday wednessday Friday and sunday, i get socialization from church, not including any of the other stuff. I spent six years in public school, and... before we left, our choir teacher was going to make us wear village people costumes, if you dont know who the village people are, look it up... leaving public school was one of the best decisions we ever made.

*claps* That doesn't mean you'll be more socialized than if you're always around people. Because always>sometime.

*claps* always is always the same age and sometimes to us is 7-17 years old, maybe you just dont understand, its hard unless your homeschooled or have finished school, besides, im waiting for darts opinion

*claps* Well that's all fine and dandy. But where did you get the crap that most public schoolers can't start a conversation with adults? I find that most of the people in my school are socially adequate with adults. Home schooling may have its advantages over real school, but the disadvantages outweigh the advantages because for every advantage there is an equally but not as more overpowering disadvantage and you'll find throughout your life there are many disadvantages to having so many advantages in your school with many disadvantages as supposed to real school with many advantages over the disadvantages that outweigh the advantages of home schooling, which is at a social disadvantage.
