There was barely any dialogue at all. When there was it was short, halted, and unnatural, not to mention completely uninformative.
Both of my friends played through FFVII multiple times. One of them actually liked the movie, but still admitted that it really didn't make much sense, he just liked seeing the people and places from the game realized in CG. I know the jist of the FFVII story anyway, starts off really good with some cloning conspiracy, degenerates into various sideplots that are somewhat related but ultimately nonsensical, and ends with you saving the universe from total destruction.
We will have to agree to disagree on this, but I don't really understand how you could even try to defend the movie's flaws. The directors of the movie obviously didn't care about character development or plot progression, and whether or not that's because they assumed you had played FFVII first, that doesn't make the movie in and of itself any better. I rented it, and watched the whole thing, and thought the action scenes were great and the CG was incredible, but considering all the elements that make up a movie, it fundamentally failed.
Anyway, that's my rant, I know a lot of people out there won't agree with me, I just want you to know, you're all wrong. :lol
