We might be changing the Game Addicts home again

Its a long story. I am not too happy. we'll have to see whats going on.

I might be combining ALL 3 of my sites into 1 massive site..... selling and all.
This is going to be expensive because I'll have to have a dedicated server. There are reasons.... I need more MySQL space. I wanted to be on a Windows server and use MySQL... it can't happen where I am at.

My current cart is cool.... but at the same time, its not listed with my current server, so I do not get the search engine hits and rankings with it.

like I said, its a long story.

Here is what it involves... and why I have a headache right now... and I am about to bash my monitor in ::D
MySQL, Shopping cart, SEO, page ranking, search engine linking / ranks, a more customizable shopping cart, advertising, my own ssl, and a lot of other crap that is mixed in.

I apologize everyone if this happens. I will be making backups.... so everything will be backed up. we'll see what happens.

Sounds like a pain in the rear, Blue...but on the other hand I'm sure it could be much worse. Be thankfull your sites and business are successfull enough to even have to worry about what server they're on and such :)
 
the business is successful.... but if it doesn't provide enough of an income to support the family soon, we might have to ditch it for awhile.

we'll have to see what happens. I don't think I can afford the dedicated server right now. Its double ALL 3 of my domain site costs as of right now.
Its around $2148 per yer :-\ :(

but that way, I can have unlimited MySQL space (well... limited to my 80 gig hard drive on the server).

businesses are expensive....

That much money so you can put down a bunch of letters on the Internet? Wow...

I have to be honest... I could cut out the Game Addict's section..

and use the MySQL for the new cart.

but... I want this section to be here for the future.  I am going to be creating  a CCRRRAAAPPP load of content..etc....
On top of that, I want you guys to have a good place to post ;)

This is how things in the future will be:
www.egameaddiction.com - main site
www.egamaeddiction.com/gameaddicts (Game addict's section... all review..etc.. go here)
www.egameaddiction.com/neogeocd (neo geo cd pages)
www.egameaddiction.com/blah - other system pages

Everything will be under the Gameaddiction site in the future.  Why?  This is going to make EVERYTHING a HECK of a alot easier.

BUT at the same time, I am going to have to start everything from scratch :(  I am doing this so I can reorganize better for the future.... My sites need reorganized BAD.

We are going to lose a lot of site popularity for a few months.  But I hope to have everything back on track.

We have lost some serious site popularity due to my retardedness.  I did not understand how site popularity worked... as I do now.
I have been studying up on this a lot as of late.... and there are some major changes that need to be done.

Basically... this dedicated server is a make it or break it solution.  Its my final straw for the business to get in more hits and business.   If it fails, I'll have to close everything down.  But Honestly, as successful as Game ADdiction has been (I only started it with $1,500 cash in 2001.... we did over $50,000 sales last year 2003).... it has to become larger to support the family. 

I don't want you all to think that we are doing bad or anything.  We are doing good... just not good enough.  Its like we are at a plateau and in front of us is a cliff that is nearly vertical.. and it has to be climbed.  Either we make it or we don't.

Not to beg (I do not like that)... but any business you guys can do or send this way would be GREATLY appreciated.

Man, that sucks. At first I was getting pissed off that we might move the boards again, as I hate change, but I guess that's not really the big issue here.

So do what you need to, and I'll see if I can persuade a parent of mine to get me an early Christmas gift.

I'm with you on this ome, Blue! Don't forget about my Neo-Geo CD purchase, which should happen very soon. :)

sure thing man... I do have some info for you :)

As for stealth.... .nah... no need to get mad.  Basically... the forums will have all the posts you see now... look the same... it will just be: www.egameaddiction.com/forums

The game addicts will be www.egameaddiction.com/gameaddicts

but I am planning on dropping this cash for all of you, the future of the business and the sites to come.  Yes, there will be many sites  ;)
All will be hosted under www.egameaddiction.com  All the forums will be combined into here.  This will be the main forum from now on.

And with the new server, we will have no worries of running out of space (for a looonnggg time).... and I jave unlimited MySQL space (and I can create as many as I need)... as I am making our game addicts site in php and mysql.

It is hard to swallow $180 a month though :lol

BTW Jeepin... you are right, I should be thankful!
