We'll Keep that In Mind

Hello Gamers,

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions they feel would be nice to see on the next set of systems to come out?

God bless

Well, I thought of that but that does not seem very realistic to actually hope for at this point..but ya, plugging the game into my brain sounds good to me. lol

My suggestion would be to drop all the fluff and just focus on making a well thought out machine with one purpose in mind. Everything these days is all about features and gimmicks, but I just want a straight up video game console with nice controllers and a realistic price. It would be nice if it was quiet and reliable, too :)

I couldn't have said it better myself.

Wait. Push the limits. Don't force game designers to learn 2 or 3 new platforms just when they're getting familiar with the existing ones. And don't force us to upgrade just so we can enjoy the next franchise release. And don't rush the new hardware if it doesn't work yet. And, something else, grumble grumble, grrrr.

Virtual reality. 'Nuff said.

Haha.....I heard that was coming......I think someone in the Podcast mentioned it. :lol

I'm pretty content with the systems as they are. Just work on some better games.....

seriously, one console to rule them all. i know it is preatty unrealistic but i think that it would be the best thing for the industry as a whole to have a single console that all developers made games for. development costs would go down, developers would only have to learn one set of hardware and i wouldn't spend $1500 getting all three consoles. its probably never going to happen, but i would love it if it did.

There's a huge negative side to this which is that this console will have no competition and we'll get something like we have with Vista in the PC market where the OS/console is completely half-*** because they know that the consumer has no alternative.

that and you can see a complete saturation of games on the market as well. plus it takes all the fun out of arguments when it comes to gaming.

there will always be the PC alternative. if someone ever does make a single console for an entire generation and they do half *** it, then that console will die and PC gaming will rule for a while. then someone else will inevitably make a kick-*** console after learning from the firsts mistakes. i did not mean for gamers to have no other alternative for gaming, just a single home console to play.

you know, sometimes i think gamers like argueing about gaming more then playing the games themselves. if you ask me, thats a positive not a negative.

The masses aren't really aware of PC gaming, nevermind prepared to shell out a lot of money for a gaming PC. A lack of competition is never good for the consumer as it will lead to higher prices, and a decline in quality. That's why the government is so against monopolies.

Amen brother. If you ask me, we should just be getting into 360's and PS3's now. The GC, PS2, and Xbox still have life in them. Too much too soon.

Also agreed. Denis Dyack gave a great interview on the 1up.com podcast a couple months ago where he basically gave a half hour speech on why creating an "open standard" for consoles would be the best thing the gaming industry could do. That doesn't mean there couldn't be more than one console, but it would mean that everyone's games would work on every console. The only difference between consoles would be the bells and whistles. This would actually increase the competition level of game developers, who would then have to directly compete with every other game developer, not just the ones developing games for that console. So even if the quality of consoles diminished due to an open standard, the quality of games wouldn't, and the consumer wouldn't have to shell out $1000 just to have the opportunity to play every game.

Even from an entirely capitalist viewpoint of "competition breeds innovation" (which is a very dumbed down way of referring to a very complex economic precept that is far from proven) it makes sense for both the game makers and the game players.

Star Trek got it right, something like a holo deck would be pretty damn cool. However, realistically I would also like to see the filler removed from game systems much like the Wii. I'm the type of person that will buy a DVD player or a Blu Ray player separately or just build my own damn HTPC.
