I've never really been interested in PC games until recently. Only problem is, my computer is pretty bad, so I'm looking into getting a new computer. Don't ask me about what my computer already has, because I have no clue. I've looked into getting an Alienware, but I've heard mixed reviews about them. I mainly want a computer that is good for gaming, but I also have other needs as well. Is Alienware good or not? If someone could also tell me a PC that is good for gaming, that would be great.

I'm pretty sure that if a computer is good for gaming it can do about anything else you would want it too. Within reason, of course.

Alienware is horrendously overpriced. Good machines, but too expensive.
Do you have any friends/relatives that might know how to build a computer? It's not hard, it just takes time if you're not too familiar with the parts; it's basically like a more expensive LEGO set. If you knew someone who would be willing to build a computer for you, you could make an ultimate gaming machine with $2000.
You also may want to wait a bit, as Conroe (Intel's amazing new processor) is coming out soon and rumors of NVIDIA's 8000 series cards are floating around as well.

There's two people that I know that might be able to build one, not sure though. My Dad, but he's usually too busy to do something like that. My sister's boyfriend also knows a lot about computers, but he also lives in a different state, so that might be difficult.
I've seen Alienwares that were in my price range, it was also when I looked up high powered ones. I think it was around $1,600.

Definately try to build your own, or find someone who can build one for you! Great price! And then you actually pick up some knowledge about the parts you are actually using, great info when you want to upgrade!

That's what I did. I got a friend who's a wiz at that. Built his, his moms, his sisters, his friends, etc., etc. The best part is you can continually upgrade it with newer better peripherals without having to buy a whole brand new computer again.
