Does Baten Kaitos live up to all of its hype? I still plan to buy it anyway, or maybe just hope someone will give it to me as a Christmas gift...

Recently, I've just been playing the PC version of Knights of the Old Republic. I love the game so far, but I'm not quite sure it's the "masterpiece" everyone calls it. But then again, maybe I should finish the game before judging it completely.

N64 : All Star Baseball 2000
NHL '99
Zelda O of T
Golden Eye

GBA : Golden Sun : The Lost Age(now that game rocks)

John...I didn't like Knights either, the XBox version in my case by the way. I played it for a few hours and couldn't come to care about the characters and quickly decided the battle system was clunky at best.

By the way...I beat Crimson Skies yesterday...gonna focus on Viewtiful Joe now and play some NFL2K5 on the weekends.

I never kept up on the hype on BK. Mostly because I don't think any rpg can top Tales of Symphonia. :p But on IGN everyone who has played both of them says BK is much better, if that's any help.

I've been playing Baten Kaitos and I do like it (I have a post about it in the GC forum). I don't know if it will top ToS yet for me, personally. I'm going to reserve full judgement until I've beat BK.

ps2 ~ a mixture of tony hawks underground 2 and Jak 3
NGC ~ mario party 5 and going to start Resi evil Zero
gba/gbp ~ anything i fancy at the time

Hmm... how is Finist Hour? I loved Call Of Duty for PC

My advice, rent it first. The game is very short and if you play it enough you could probably beat it in a rental period, easily. From my experience with it I found the controls to be very different than that of any other FPS, and until I got used to it (about halfway through the game, became very frustrating at times) they seemed very unresponsive and almost unrefined. However, once I got used to the controls I can really appreciate the game for what it is. The Russian campaign is basically Enemy At The Gates in a game, which is a good thing. The sound is amazing. With most games I can't get my speakers to go loud enough so I can hear all the little details, but they've compensated perfectly for that by making sure the sound of bullets is distinct and yet cluttered at the same time. As well in other WWII I would always wish that there would be planes flying overhead and tanks crashing about, and this game is spot on for both of those.

The British campaign is brutal, easily the worst (and luckily shortest) part of the game. It was just plain frustrating and playing it made me want to get my money back.

The American campaign is easily the best. It's like Saving Private Ryan in game form, but better. You really feel like you're fighting street to street in bombed out European cities. You also get the best guns (or at least I thought so) and you get the most variety of missions. It's a solid game that delivers on everything its supposed to. The graphics are a bit mediocre but it accomplishes so much in every other department it doesn't really matter. If you liked MOH then you'll absolutely love this game, as its basically everything Medal of Honor wished it was.
