What would happen if EA created a console?

Obviously, it isn't selling good enough for EA. It's sold 10.5 million units as of the beginning of the year, not sure where it stands now.

Yeah, I'll rest easy knowing EA's not going to make a system.

I'm thinking EA would consider joining the fray if no one console emerges dominant, like the PS2 did. That's what I think they mean by "PS3 sales picking up." Apparently, they're thinking the PS3 is the most likely to take control of the market.

Unless that's what they're expecting. Hmm. I don't see a dominant console coming out of this to tell you the truth so the possibility is very real.

They made the announcement within, what, the last week? Face it, EA thinks PS3 sales suck. You can say they're amazing and all, but EA doesn't.

That's what worries me. I expect almost a three way split of the market, so I'm thinking EA will jump in, thinking it's anyone's game.

I'm sorry. Do I care about what EA thinks about the PS3? :lol

Yeah, thus bringing all of its bought out developers with it. :-\

Umm, yes, since that's what decides if EA makes a console or not.

PS3 sales are up there with 360. So of course they're probably going to make a console.
360 is leading by at least seven million. :/

Yeah? And PS3 AND PS2 have been outselling the 360 in recent months, and many experts are predicting the PS3 to even top the Wii in the end. And if we're talking about them waiting till 2010 to see, then the PS3 will be up there.

By about 100,000, maybe 200. So, at that rate, it'll only take three years to pass 360's current numbers, which will continue to rise as well. Three years from now puts us at a solid 2011. Oh, how unlucky was that?

To quote you, "Can't assume anything, even in the game industry."

Speaks for itself. 8)

If you can't assume anything, then we'll just have to wait till 2010, and see where sales are then. ;)
If you can't assume anything, then every debate/argument/discussion is ultimately rendered pointless.

Hopefully, they'd lose a fortune and go out of business. Realistically, they'd have a lot of exclusives, but aside from the Madden hardcores I don't think it would sell very well.

I'd hope that it wouldn't. But, with the amount of Madden games sold each year, do you think it would sell enough to stay competitive?
