Hi All!

Why is it some gaming companies make their titles exclusive to just one system?Would it not be more prudent to make the release to as many systems as possible? The only reason I can think of as to why they do it is perhaps to avoid flooding the market like today's sports cards. If I'm wrong, school me,I'd really like to know.

God Bless,

Because every major company needs a bread and butter maker. A game that sticks out to make people want their system.

... and if they get the best games, they get better publicity, and with that comes more purchases for their games and consoles, and with that come mucha grande!!!

Generally companies like Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo will pay for exclusivity rights to keep a game on their console only, for the reasons mentioned above. More and more now, though, developers are finding it is more profitable to make multi-platform titles, so exclusives are getting more rare as time goes on.

Somtimes there are technical issues to consider as well. A 360 game can't be ported over to a Wii, so unless its worth reworking the game into something compatible with the Wii, it just won't come out for that system.
