A propaganda victory for him if he died before he was aprehended is nothing compared to the propaganda victory if he was killed by U.S soldiers.
Exactly. The last thing we need is for Osama himself to become a martyr. Teaching people that Osama doesn't believe in what he preaches (suicide attacks = instant heaven), which is why is he gets young, naive, kids to do his dirty work for him, we can effectively start winning the war on terror in the middle east. If Osama's death can in anyway be seen as evidence that he too died for his cause, that battle will be much tougher to fight.

Osama Bin Laden can't hide from God.
True, at least I believe so. Sooner or later Osama will have to answer for his crimes, and he'd be much better off answering for them here on earth...

We can't shuffle off all responsibility for 9/11 on bad people like Osama. He was on our side once, and he does believe in his cause, even if he needs to lie to his followers to see it through. And he's not the only person in the world who was happy to see the two towers go down. 9/11 was an eye opener, and it can't all be chalked up to extremist fanaticism. A good portion of the world is not too fond of America, and greater western society as a whole, and 9/11 forces us to re-evaluate why people would travel halfway around the world in an elaborate and co-ordinated strike to kill a bunch of civilians, when their own part of the world had plenty of civilians to kill? I'm not suggesting we should be listening to the message the terrorists were trying to send, but I am suggesting we should try to figure out why they felt
we needed to hear that message. What really are the root causes behind prejudice towards Americans/western ideals? Why didn't the world rally behind us in our "war on terror?" Have we done something to provoke an attack from the middle east? Are we missing some key piece of the puzzle?
9/11 was nothing less than a tragedy, a horrific act of violence, but preventing it from ever happening again forces us to ask some tough questions in figuring out how it happened the first time. It goes beyond capturing, killing, or bringing to justice one man.
