Wii May Adapt Demo Idea from 360 and PS3

According to a Nintendo survey recently, the possibility is real. :)

It's inconceivable to us why Nintendo doesn't offer demos for its Wii games. Besides being a cool freebie to entice people to buy a system, easy access to demos leads to better sales of full games. Sony and Microsoft figured this out years ago, offering PlayStation, PS2 and Xbox demo discs with their official magazines and, later, downloadable demos for the Xbox 360 and PS3. Nintendo still hasn't caught up on this important front.

So it's heartening to see the Big N mulling over demo availability in the new issue of Nintendo Power. According to a scan provided by a GoNintendo reader , the latest Player's Pulse contest poll asks readers how interested they are in Wii game demos, how they would like to receive such demos, and whether they would be willing to pay extra for them.

While downloadable demos for full Wii games might be tough to cram onto the Wii's puny 512MB of built-in memory, a demo disc in Nintendo Power seems like an idea whose time has come ... ten years ago! And while we're at it, how about some try-before-you-buy demos for the Virtual Console too, eh Nintendo? We're growing increasingly impatient here.

This would be a great addition to the Nintendo Wii. Honestly, game demos are one of the few complaints I have about the system. It'll be nice knowing if games warrant a $50 price tag or not. :)

very cool but keep in mind, the bioshock demo is 1GB, and the skat demo is 1GB, in fact, i dont think iv ever seen a demo on XBL that would fit on the wii

it only has 512MB

Most Wii games aren't really that big...file-size wise. I'm not talking about putting 360 or PS3 games for demos on Wii, but Wii games, which would only take up mere MBs.

Game Informer said tat voice acting in Prime 3 would change the face of video games forever...ten years ago. They seem to have forgotten Star Fox 64, made ten years ago. Just thought I'd point that out since I saw the ten year thing. Demo disks, or even downloadable would be nice. Awesome, in fact.

yeah, but ds games are 1GB! so wii demos would be hard to do

The fact that they're debating it sorta proves it can. They aren't going to say they'll do it when enough people say they want it and then go, "Oops, sorry, can't fit it."

Right, you mean where they haven't said anything about it besides they only won't in SSBB if it's too laggy. I see the connection. Or how about when they said they were never going to put in multiplayer on Prime? That was a good one, they almost tricked me.

your a fool.

@strubes, yeah i would love to see demos it would be awesome

And you know this since you've seen all the sizes of them, right?

Guys, calm down. Let's just talk about the possibility. To end this little squabble, let me ask both of you a question. Would you prefer downloadable demos via WiiConnect24 or discs....or both?

definitly both, if both were free :lol

i like the convenience of downloading, but the reliability of discs

Well I'm doubting they would just send discs to everyone who owns a Wii. I'm saying if they were included in each Nintendo Power magazine...or something of the like. :)
