Wii's Virtual Console (Breaking down price wise, the real story)

MegaDrive20XX

Segatron Genesis... call me the wizard.
For the Virtual Console, classic NES, SNES, and N64 titles can be purchased using Wii points, a 2000 Wii Points card is $20. Approximately 30 titles will be available at launch, including Nintendo's classic Donkey Kong, Zelda and Mario series. A total of 60 titles will be available by the end of the year. Here's the price list:

NES / Famicom - 500 Wii points
SNES / Super Famicom - 800 Wii points
Nintendo 64 - 1,000 Wii points

So it's not $5 to $10 a pop! so thank god *phew*...

Yet if you look at it again, it pretty much is $5 a piece for each NES game= 500 points x 4 NES games= $20

360 uses the same/similar "point" system on their Xbox Live

Yeah.. because nothing ever used point systems before 360... :-/...

I won't complain about the price. $5 a piece for NES games, where some cart games can go as high as $20+ for the same title.

I am going to complain a bit.... that is a bit EXPENSIVE for virtual items.

I love the idea... but they should have taken the pricing down a bit. In fact, I am a bit disappointed in the pricing. WHY would I pay $5-10....etc.. for a virtual game? Yeah... it's convenient on one console... I'll give it that... but it just seems to be too much (IMO)

BV :hat

NES games should be 2-3 bucks a pop. I can already download the entire NES library, for free. Why would I pay $5 for a game I already bought once for $50 on the NES, again for $50 when it was re-released for GBA, and again for $20 when the original version was released for GBA several months after? The downloading classics feature should be something that is utilized to sell consoles, not to turn a huge profit.

Any information about backup of the virtual games? Do the keep a database so you can redownload? What if your Wii breaks/gets smashed/lost and you loose your games? I would like to have seen N64 priced at $5, SNES $3, and NES$2.

(Think about it, you can get a real N64 game for $5 on ebay....)

Memory cards by SanDisk will be offered for that and normal gameplay saves. $39.99 gets you a 512MB and $59.99 gets you a 1GB card

Once again, check my earlier post. Nintendo's not targeting "internet dude #1337", he's targeting Joe Consumer, who doesn't know much (if anything) about emulation or buying/owning older games, since he traded all of his NES stuff in to GameStop for 5 bucks total.

If it bothers you that bad, go buy them on "eBay" (don't forget that 3-5 dollar shipping!) or find them in person perhaps..?

The pricing is semi steep, but I will say this, if they put up games that are extremely hard/expensive to find in cart form then I'm all for it. ^_^

Best point I've seen all day about people complaining about this.

Besides, it's not easy playing most games on a keyboard anyway.
