Wow, the special edition SPs are getting a bit ridiculous

oh... I wouldn't give up.  I just would have no need for the new consoles... especially the direction the newer ones are headed.

Well. I have to concede to that. I don't really like where they are going either, except for Nintendo with the Revolution and the DS. It's one thing to add extra features that add to the gaming experience, but I really don't need a console that does everything except wash the dishes, which is where it seems like MS and Sony are going. Maybe because I'm not a tech geek or something, but the fact that they will be able to have TiVo functions and be all-in-one entertainment centers doesn't interest me in the slightest. The only thing I care about is if it plays games. I don't want to have to pay extra for features I'm not going to use. If the companies feel like they have to have these features, I would hope that Sony and MS both sell two different systems: one for people like me who just want to play games, and another for the people who actually want all of that extra stuff. Kind of like the Panasonic Q, you know?

exactly.... because what it comes down to is that with all the extras they provide (while some mght be cool) it costs us extra.

I don't want to have to pay for extra features I do not want..... honestly, TiVo in a Video Game System?

I know a lot of people think this is cool... but i want a "Video Game System"

Hey Neph, I used to feel that here too, I used to think that just cause I wasn't a cube worshipper {I always worship N, just not the Cube, at first} I wasn't liked. Fact is though, that mentality is about as far from the truth as it can be. Everybody here is cool and if somebody doesn't like you I guarantee it's not cause you don't like the system of their choice.

There better not be anything like tivo on the new systems. I'm sick of this futuristic gizmo/gadgetry crap. I think the features of the Xbox should be as advanced as it gets, ie built in hard drive, cd dvd player. And in all honesty I wouldn't mind if they cut out dvd capabilities, I mean come on, you can pick up a perfectly fine dvd player at a pawn shop for 40$....But on the other hand I do love the custom soundtrack feature and I'm not sure how you could utilize this without a cd drive.....

Eh, arguing about the systems is pointless. The winner of any of those arguments is the one who is busy playing his Xbox, PS2 and GBA while the rest of you bicker. (That would be ME! :D)

Where the heck did that come from?

I'm in B-town right now. You want to take me on in Q3:A, fire up your PC version. :P

i can't.... Q3 doesn't like XP.... at all.

I tried at the accounting offices computer as well... it simply hates XP :(

I have no clue what you're talking about. I've been running XP on this computer for a few years and have ZERO issues with Quake III: Arena.

Excuses, excuses ::)

I'll take ya on. BTW, I don't have any issues with Starcraft on here either. The only game I've ever had problems with were the video settings in GL Quake.

There is a whole section on Bnets site dedicated to Stacraft (online) not working right with Xp due to the new winsock.

:lol  It is like that for MANY MANY people.
Are you Xp Pro, or home... not 100% sure, but that makes a difference too.

Even Bnet themselves stated this to me via an email.
unfortunately..... it just happens with starcraft as its made for win 98.

war 2 bnet does the same thing.

as for Quake 3, I don't know what the problem there was.... but I tried it at work and at home.... no luck at either place on Win XP pro.
The initial online list won't load.

neph.... come on man... look at all the posts in the Ps2 section. The nintedo posters are not going there and posting anti-sony statements. Sony's reliability is a KNOWN and well documented issue.

Its also documented among those that service systems that the Gamecube (and nearly all Nintendo products) out last the other products. 1 exception was the super scope six. The menacer outlasted that thing.

Spartan, MM, moltar, and many others are not Nintendo fans, they don't come to the Nintendo sections posting crap negative about the other systems.

Just give normal cross talk and you won't have problems. There is no reason that there should be any problems.

Just post, have fun, and don't worry about the other people. Sometimes its best to ignore "pests." Now, I am not calling people pests.... but I am saying that if someone bothers you, just ignore them. You can have objectional posts... counterpoints..etc... but just try to get along, cool?

Try going to a Sony board sometime posting about the Lamecube and see how many responses you get.

But why would I go to a Sony board to post about the Gamecube when Nintendo has its own board? You're not making sense. If I went to a Sony board and constantly dissed Sony I would expect to get the same reaction there as you get here, and that's exactly why I don't post on PS2 boards.
