Wow, the special edition SPs are getting a bit ridiculous

They should give the DS a removable and replacable shell. So you can buy the custom designs at a fraction of the cost. That would be a good idea for almost any system as a matter of fact. Because, at least for me, I will want or at least be interested in the custom desgins, colors, etc, but I can't justify buying a system I already own just so it looks cooler. But a $20 way I can customize my sytem at will would be amazing.

Man, that is a great idea! They really should do something like that.

Or just offer all the colors at launch.

Besides, you were always the one that said that we never questioned Nintendo's choices and that we were all blind to their marketing tactics. And now that we're contradicting that opinion you attack the opposite side of the arguement? There's just no pleasing you is there?

Sometimes I think that if I said the sky was blue, Neph would say it was green just to disagree.

No - but I think if *I* had made this topic, no one would've complained about the special editions at all and just jumped all over me for being negative again.

Yes, I'm sure they would have. But you care to know why? Because if YOU had made this post, people would have been like, "Neph's at it again." But since I posted it, and people know that I like Nintendo, it's actually seen as an objective criticism.

Also, while I did post about how the "Who Are You" edition was cheesy, I came back with the Zelda and Mario editions and mentioned how those actually were pretty cool and that I found those worth buying. The key is to find something positive for every negative. :)

But if no one posts on the Sony boards, of course no one is going to have anything to reply to. A bit of circular logic? Bring some more people here that are also fans of Sony. Get stuff from IGN and post it and see what happens. In this forum I've posted a few topics that haven't received replies yet, but that doesn't stop me from trying. :)

Neph, I hope you noted the sarcasm in my post too...

I think everyone's just getting a little uppedy over all this. For one thing Neph, you really shouldn't have posted what you did, all it did was agitate and aggrivate the people that originally came to this thread, because it was completely out of the blue, off topic, and borderline flaming. Now I enjoy a good flame war as the next man, but I really think you don't have a foot to stand on here. Yes this board does have a majority of Nintendo fans. And yes, sometimes we do get a little out of hand and offended when people criticise Nintendo (though I like to think I'm separate from most of this). You yourself have pointed that out numerous times, so instead of trying to point that out some more, why don't you just accept it and move on. Understand that you will be getting slightly biased opinions in favor of Nintendo.

It's because I like Sony the best - thus my opinion doesn't count for jack on this board.

The fact that you have adopted this attitude means that our opinions don't mean jack to you, so if you want us to start taking you seriously (though I always have) then you'd better understand that respect goes both ways, and if you're constantly calling us fanboys, then it's not gonna happen.

And as for the rest of you... I think Mai does a very good job of pointing out consistencies and raising discussions on subjects in a very politically correct manner. The rest of you need some lessons in debating, and you also have to know and understand that Neph isn't going to lose his attitude if we don't lose ours. We are, for the most part, fanboys, and we should all try to think a little more objectively towards Nintendo or we run the risk of becoming biased ourselves. We all just need to take a step back, chill out, and avoid inflammatory comments.

Sorry if it sounds like I'm talking down to you guys, I don't want to be a know-it-all and act like I'm exempt from the situation at hand, I just wanted to get my two cents in.

Well, I like Nintendo releasing special editions of consoles because it gives us more choice.

I agree with the idea of mobile phone-style removeable cases from a consumer perspective, but if Nintendo did that, they couldn't gather extra sales by releasing all of these different SPs. Although..I suppose they can do both...

And Nephlabobo...why do you like Sony the best?

I'm not saying you shouldn't, it's just that there's not much of a reason to support them, imo. They don't make many games, and even less great games. They have more third-party support because they are the market leader, but that can easily be subject to change if Microsoft or Nintendo gain the lead by such a big margin at some point. If Sony ended up being third in the race, with the least third-party support, would you be still supporting them then? I know I can say "yes" to this if it was Nintendo because I know that I'll still be able to play consistently high quality games that are exclusive to their console(s).

It's my understanding that Neph likes the PS2 more because it has more original titles on it, as well as more variety. I don't want to speak for him but if Nintendo had the largest 3rd party support he probably would like the Gamecube more, as he's drawn to whatever system provides the most unique games. He doesn't really favor the PS2 over the GC, just it's variety in games.

At least I think so...

Yes I know exactly why.

No matter what - because I like Sony - my opinions are WRONG on this board. So whether I have a valid point or not, I'll just get shouted down and told to shut up because I don't worship Nintendo.

I'm not bothering to enter the review contest - I'm guaranteed not to win because I'd be reviewing a PS2 game.

I don't even know why there's a section FOR Sony on the board. I stopped making topics because no one answers them.

This should be a board strictly for Nintendo systems only.

neph.... don't let it get to you.

you are right, there are a lot of Nintendo fans here.... but there are just as many multi-system fans as well.

don't be so aggressive against other's systems.

just post about the stuff you like, don't let others get you down.

there is a lot of negativity on Nintendo... it doesn't get me down.

if you want Sony support, drum it up and participate for Sony products.... others like those systems as well.

I'd say 30-40% of this board supports Nintendo... with only 10% being loyal to it.

Now those I would buy. I hope they end up releasing them here as well. If not, I'm definitely importing. Those are awesome collector's items.

I WANT THAT ZELDA ONE!!!!

:o :o

THATS NOT COOL, ONLY EUROPE GETS IT?!?! come on man... I want one too :lol

I hope that Neph's inactivity is due to rl (real life) stuff and not because of what he posted.

If he left because he couldn't deal with the rest of us having different opinions, IMO that's a little immature. If I left a message board every time someone disagreed with me I wouldn't have any message boards to post on. No matter where you stand on an issue, there's always going to be someone who disagrees with you. That's just a fact of life.

If by any chance Neph still browses, I just want to say that I agree with BV on these points:

1. just post about the stuff you like, don't let others get you down.

2. if you want Sony support, drum it up and participate for Sony products.... others like those systems as well.

But in fairness I wanted to point out to BV, you say "don't be so aggressive against other's systems" but you yourself are unwilling to give the other systems more than a small chance. The way Neph acts towards Sony is the same way you are towards Nintendo. I'm a huge, huge Nintendo fan and some may even call me a fangirl, but at least I can admit that the other systems this generation have something to offer. I mean...you don't play the systems. You play the games. Maybe a certain system has more games that you like, but think of it this way...if you were a Sega fanboy back in the day, did you quit gaming because Sega stopped making consoles? No. Because it wasn't so much the consoles that made you a fan of Sega...it was their games. And their games are now available on other consoles. So you can still enjoy them.

I really think stealth summed it up.

Anyway, I hope that makes sense.

yeah yeah :lol

I will change and appreciate others liking other systems... but I myself cannot appreciate Sony or Xbox.
I provide a place here for people to talk about them.... and I also make sure that people can talk about them freely (just not in the Nintendo section)..... IE and Nintendo should not invade in other territories on the board.... except for friendly comparison talk...    This board has become 100% better at accepting opinions.

I love (and own) all sorts of systems, Lynx, Jaguar, Turbo Grafx (with CD add on), Dreamcast, Virtual Boy, Snes, N64, Gameboy, Gameboy advance, Big PC fan here, HUGE Neo Geo CD fan, Neo Geo AES, Neo Geo MVS, Neo Geo Pocket Color....... and I play (and own) many other consoles as well..... so I think its safe to say I give everything a chance. I even have played the PSX, Ps2, and Xbox beyond 100+ games (maybe even each)...... I play test nearly every game that comes around.
.... Heck, I even own a Saturn with a few games :lol  I have a very negative attitude towards the Saturn....  but I try to be positive about it.

BTW.. yes, if Nintendo stopped making consoles/games.... I'll nearly be a PC gamer only and rely on older titles.

Anyway.. hopefully neph didn't leave because of disagreements.

If Nintendo stopped making consoles but kept making games, I'd get whatever systems their games went to. Even if it was Sony. :-\ But since Nintendo has stated that they would leave the industry period if they left the hardware business, I probably wouldn't have much choice. But I think the difference between you and I is that I would try to find something else I liked just as much instead of giving up altogether, you know? Namco especially, in this generation, has really impressed me. They are not Nintendo, of course. But I have really enjoyed their games.

oh... I wouldn't give up. I just would have no need for the new consoles... especially the direction the newer ones are headed.

I could get all the FPS, RPG, action RPG, and sports action on the PC..... plus most PC games tend to be the best version of the game produced (less file limitations).

I definitely wouldn't stop gaming, but I would change the way I played games.

I don't think Nintendo will ever die though, thanks to the long term success of the GBA.  :)

Edit: Also, although I am all about the games and not the consoles, I don't think I could see myself playing Nintendo games if they went to the other systems. It just sounds too...wrong.

WHAT is that, BV? "IE and Nintendo should not invade other territories" What about people who play a little Nintendo, a little Xbox and a little PS2? I visit several of the forums and don't think that I should stay out of this forum or that except for sake of friendly comparison. I mean, seriously. I know you're a hardcore Nintendo fanboy, but you're seriously biased against other systems even though you carry some games for them. It would actually be a good business practice, even, to familiarize yourself with more than just one facet of the products you carry.

I don't think he meant it like that. I'm pretty sure he just meant that topics about Nintendo are in the Nintendo section, except for friendly comparison ones. Thus if Neph wants to talk about Sony he can go to the Sony section and not have to talk about Nintendo there.

bingo @ Stealth :D  You are starting to creep me out stealth :lol we are agreeing all the time now :lol

Actually... I think its better keeping the systems seperate and little cross talk because it gives little room for arguments.  NOW comparison talk is ok.... for example... the Tales of Symphonia Gamecube / Ps2 talk where the TOS has framerate problems on the ps2.  There is no problem with that.  But no more bashing systems (a big reason we killed off the console war).

Grindspine... you'll see a ton more Xbox and Ps2 in my shop soon... my PSX section rivals my Snes section.  I am just working on getting better priced games.

I carry games.. I have experience, I just choose not to personally own the systems I do not like.

My favorite systems to play games on are made by (except the last one... pc is general of course):
Nintendo
SNK
then... well.. PC :)
