Xbox 360 = Hardcore

Just when I thought this thread might actually not degrade into stupid arguments....you guys are so predictable. ::)

Please get back on topic and keep it civil or I will lock the thread.

Eh, for the record, it did start out at Hines saying he lost respect for Strubes when he said 360 was the most hardcore.

Yes, I am aware of how this topic got started. And I thought about locking it just based on the fact that "Xbox 360 = hardcore" is almost asking for trouble. However, the first few posts were fine, and I was happy to see that people could actually debate without insulting each other or going off-topic. But it didn't stay that way, unfortunately.

But instead of arguing with me about it, or arguing period, just stay on topic and it will be fine.

360: Halo 3, DoA 4, Gears of War, Bioshock, Mass Effect and maybe a few others. But still as I said before Halo was more casual than Halo 2.
I still think you're missing a lot of “hardcore” 360 exclusives, especially those that are already out. There's Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Dead Rising, CoD 2, Eternal Sonata, Alan Wake, and many others I can't think of right now because I'm tired.

Anyways, this entire discussion is pointless. Why does it matter how hardcore a console is in the first place?

Dang, I leave for work, come back, and this has already gotten out of hand. :lol

First thing's first. Mai, this topic wasn't created looking for trouble. If you go back and look at post 1 on this topic, you'll see I was merely sparking a debate. You of all people should know the difference between debating and arguing.

Why not? Why does it matter that the Wii is the most casual? Most likely for the audience it targets, which can be said about the 360 and the audience it's games target. :)

Because apparently, you can argue if a console is casual, but you can't argue it's hardcore. I still can't see how not, and Hines has yet to give an answer anyways, so I doubt he has a reason either.

I do. You have to admit, though, especially given how outspoken people on this forum are and how passionate some people are about their system of choice, that even the most well-intentioned debate can turn into much worse. I'm just trying to keep that from happening so the debate can go on intelligently. :D

Also, I wasn't referring to you when I said to stop arguing, because I knew you weren't. :)

i think a console can't be called "hardcore"

the games are what matters... the wii can be as hardcore as the 360
but mario party can't never be as hardcore like halo 3
metroid is hardcore and katamari is very casual.

yes the wii has a lot of casual games..... but still it can have more hardcore games

you just gave me the greatest idea for a movie parody....

"THE PASSION OF THE CONSOLE"!

In the parody, we'll take the least popular system from the past that has been loved by so many as followers, watch it amaze and wow people during it's time. Then watch it degrade over the years as it's 3rd party support declines. As the system is tourmented in anguish, suffering, and in pain. The lone fanboi who made the system seem so wonderful upon it's launch date, says with dying words "Forgive them Father, for they do not know what they do is wrong." In the end, the system will only be remembered for what glory and joy it brought to those who loved it so.

Yet back on topic. I will say this to all of you, not just a reminder to myself, but to all. There is no such thing, as a terrible system, only bad games and bad support. Every system ever created, has gems of games that made it famous, you just need to polish them off once in a while to make them shine.

You people. It's all personal opinion. What's hardcore to gamer A may not be to gamer B. Sometimes the most idiotic debates can be solved with such simple reasoning.

Well said! I agree with both of you.

But yet...what if there IS a console, at some point, that has no real gems? It just focused on unimportant things first party wise, lost support from fans, and lost third party support? Is it bad then?

i haven't seen such thing..... not even the gamecube was that bad

That's why I said "what if?", "at some point", "has", and the like.

it would be the apocalypse of the Gaming Industry maybe

Why? Is it going to stop games -again-? Not really, just **** up one company REALLY bad.

well what i mean is that that's just almost impossible.... even sega had some support at his last console.

*sigh* Why would it be impossible? Watch this. Read it. Whatever. A next gen console sucks big. It has crappy sales, its third party support dies, everyone pledges to not buy the next, since they're obviously SEGA2. The next comes out. No third party support, minimal sales, crappy first party games since they realize they suck. End.

Honestly, though, any system is successful if one person enjoys it. Just one. All there has to be. If one person is pleased by it, it's good.
