Weren't N64 games $75 a pop?? And this was back in the 90s too. I don't see $60 as a big deal, mainly because we all know that once the games go into circulation, the prices will drop because they'll want to sell games to us cheap skates. :D

Nope, they were $50 each, I'm pretty sure. Though some games did cost more than others...

Yeah they were but some places jacked up the prices. Ive seen N64 games go up to $90. Thats was just wrong.
but alas... its not wrong if its worth that.

Some games went up in value for awhile (and since have declined).... but there is always that chance :)

IE Suikoden 2 on the playstation is overpriced as well... but the market dictates its price.

Not during it's time though. Now if people want to pay that now because they arent being made anymore then they can go ahead. But pricing them that high just because they want to isnt right.

yeah its called supply and demand
That's true most of the time. Sometimes it's the hype that drives prices up. If a merchant has a mountain of a certain game that's very popular, he may jack up the price to fatten up his profits. Ethical?? No. Legal?? Yes.

$90 for a game is just ridiculous, what game was that btw?

I think games should be priced around $30-$40 'cause the console itself is expensive. Im glad that you dont have to pay to play online with most games for PS2, but I know for XboxLive you have to pay a yearly fee right? Im not sure but you have to pay to play online.

Since systems usually lose money of off hardware sales, and make it up in software sales. So, that is not a good arguement to make. Microsoft lost money on every Xbox sold, but more than made it up in game sales.

I'm pretty sure you just gave an example of supply and demand.

Back in the 64 era the average game cost $80 in Canada. Came up to about $90 with tax. I bought a game that was $100 with tax once, it sucked too. I think I lost it at some point. It was a terrible lesson to learn, but I learned it well... :lol

It was this store in downtown LA. They had all of their N64 games at that price. The one I remember was "Shadows of the Empire". That store was stupid though because most of the people who shopped there were low income hispanic families. There was no way they would have boughten games at that high of a price.

*bump* It looks like the development of games will double... http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/09/19/news_6133848.html
And you guys were complaining about a $10 increase.

hm.... I am still not sure if I believe that though.

I highly doubt the costs will double. INITIALLY.... they will have to invest into new equipment. BUT that will pan out. Their costs are ALWAYS high at first.... they get lower at the end of the life of the consoles.

I've never seen an N64 game over the $70-75 MSRP that some of the titles commanded.

Most were $50-60.

I mean, I've only paid $70 for a couple titles (around $75 after tax).... and I have near 50 N64 games. Most were bought 1st day they came out.
