I thought Birdo was the female equivalent of Yoshi, could be wrong I suppose. I also thought there were actually some male reptiles/aquatic life that layed the eggs, or maybe they just took care of them. Who knows, nature's pretty messed up.

What if Yoshi is REALLY a girl. But there's some male version that we've NEVER ever heard of because it's being kept secret deep down in some undergroud labratory. Or MAYBE they are boys, but they somehow lay eggs regardless of gender.
You know, Yoshi's may not even reproduce. They could be a cross breeed of some other life form (likely reptile) and thus, not be able to reproduce because of that. Like when you cross a Donkey with a Horse, you get a mule.
