I do like Puzzle games to an extent.... so I knew what I was getting into when buying Zoo Keeper (regardless of the Japanese styled packaging.)
The premise of the game is simple. Line up 3 animals (out of a massive group using the touch screen) to clear them off screen.
Once you clear them, the animals drop down and another row is added on top. You must find animals to clear in a certain amount of time... or you lose (this is done in every game mode.). So... lets say you are doing the 6 minute game.... you still have 30 seconds to make 1 group... and the completed group will add seconds to the clock. The 30 second timer is seperate from the 6 min timer... so in that particular mode, no time is added to the "master time."
You also get to higher levels in which the game gets faster, and the time to find animal groups gets shorter.
There is a bar indicating how many animals (of certain types) you have cleared. Per level, you have to clear AT LEAST x amount of each animal.
Once you fill the animal clear requirement, you move to the next level.
yes... it is that simple.
There are a few game modes:
1.) 6 minute play - to score the highest you can in 6 min
2.) Zoo Keeper - in which you clear animals to clear the levels.
3.) Quest - total of 10 stages. You have to defeat the curator.
4.) Tokoton 100 - level up by capturing 100 animals
5.) Multplayer - haven't had a chance to play it yet
This game is rather fun... and has good lasting appeal. THE ONLY THING I HATE (yet hate) is the music. I really wish they could have done better with it. :'(
besides that... this game is VERY fun, and can be addictive at times.
The touch screen makes it even more fun as well.... kind-of unique in a puzzle game... but the added control of the touch screen works wonderfully.
The Graphics... are done well and are suited for the game.
My favorite mode is the 6 min mode
It can be intense trying to find the animal groups... trust me, they are not always obvious.
I'd say its a game to buy if you own a DS.
