Several DLC episodes included this year! Plus a "Second Season" depends on how well this game does!

Re: Alan Wake is alive, and will be at E3.

So I guess the date of Alan Wake got moved up! I got a text on Sunday saying it would be at GameStop on Tuesday (that's tomorrow, folks!!!).

Can I just say right now that I am SO EXCITED! I hope they have copies of the Collector's Edition left because it wasn't available when I reserved it and now it's coming out already.

Re: Alan Wake is alive, and will be at E3.

That's crazy! I swear this game plays like Silent Hill 100%! I need to get this game!

Re: Alan Wake is alive, and will be at E3.

So I managed to snag a Collector's Edition! Yes!

This game is just as good as I expected it to be. OMG.

Play it now!

Re: Alan Wake is alive, and will be at E3.

It's going pretty good. I played today and then stopped for a bit, as it was getting intense and I am a big chicken. Ha ha.

Re: Alan Wake is alive, and will be at E3.

Actually Mai, I'm really really proud of you for purchasing this game. I'm honored that you are playing a survival horror game along the lines of Alone in the Dark, SIREN, and Silent Hill. Which this game borrows many elements from these titles and the TV series, "Twin Peaks" and "X-Files".

Re: Alan Wake Thread

I just received the game today and I have to say, the storyline has me on the edge of my seat. This is about as thrilling as Stephen King/Twin Peaks. I finished the first chapter and I'm craving more.

Update: I finished the game on normal mode. Overall? Fantastic, but the weirdest freakin' ending EVER. Usually Silent Hill has an explanation or happy ending. This? Nope. Just....O.o

Re: Alan Wake Thread

Here is an interpretation of the ending I found for anyone who doesn't get it.

In order to save Alice, he needed to make everything balance. He gave himself to the darkness in exchange for Alice's life. But now the darkness has Alan, and it'll use him to write its comeback like it originally intended.
He may have saved the town and Alice for now, but now the whole world is in danger. By writing that it's not just a lake but an ocean, he's extending the reach of the darkness to more than just Bright Falls now.

Re: Alan Wake Thread

Well said GM :) Right now, I'm finishing the game on NIGHTMARE mode (At Chapter 5 atm) to see what else I can unearth about the storyline since there are extra manuscripts only found in this difficulty.

Re: Alan Wake Thread

I finished it on Nightmare mode. :D Only downside, is trying to get all those manuscripts in Nightmare mode is a pain >.<!

Re: Alan Wake Thread

Only downfall is this is a pretty short game. So if you're looking for a lot of depth or a game that doesn't take a day or two to finish, wait for this to go used.

Hey Birthday guy, where's that TV? I don't want you bashing my games unless you have a TV to play a game :P Yes, every time you bash a game, I will respond with this exact same statement. I will haunt you like a TAKEN on payday son. :P

Re: Alan Wake Thread

I beat the game on hard, I was impressed. Aside from being short, it was a very fun game. I LOVED the Stephen King inspired story, it was dark and mysterious. Very unpredictable too, at least compared to most games. Easily one of the best plots of any game this generation.

The combat was pretty solid too, I just hated the limited sprint with no meter showing its level.

I think it was rather odd, that the meter only appears at the very beginning of the game's tutorial session and disappears. I wish the programmers could have left it in the entire game.

Re: Alan Wake Thread

There was a sprint meter in the tutorial? I didn't even notice. But my big problem with that wasn't the ability to run all the time, it was that you needed sprint stamina to be able to dodge. Often times I would be running from some Taken, slow down, try to dodge, and get smashed into pieces.
