Convince me to get this instead of the PS3

Don't worry, I put this in the PS3 forum as well. Just replace "x-box 360" with "ps3".

Anyway, I am planning on purchasing either a PS3 or X-Box 360 as soon as I get a good game for either one. Launch games are fair enough, but I want to wait a bit so the developers can take the full advantage of these systems. But which one to get? Both look great, so it's basically the games I'm concerned about. What games will be on which system, and which will be multiplatform? Mulltiplayer don't interest me at all. It's no fun shooting some guy on the other side of the world online. It's much more fun to shoot someone in the same room and hear his or her reaction. It makes things a lot more intense. And before you mention multitap, multile controllers and all that, I really don't think we'll be more than four people at any given time. Hardly more than two, even.

Anyway, I like games like SSX, Tony Hawk, King of Fighters, Mortal Kombat and so on. I've barely bothered with FPS games, but love a good roleplaying game. (and with Dragon Age, Neverwinter Nights 2 and Elder Scrolls 4 on PC, console RPG's don't matter that much.) So which system should I get?
 
I don't know really, right now I'd say Xbox 360 out of loyalty to Microsoft, but I don't know a whole lot about either system.

Retro, that's off topic posting BTW. She want's to know whether she should get a PS3 or an Xbox 360, not a Revolution, PS3 or Xbox 360.
 
Revolution does look really sweet right now though. I'd say, right now at least, Xbox 360>=Revolution>PS3. I still like nintendo, but lack of online support this generation made me desert them.
 
Uh, let me see if I didn't misunderstand you. I'm going to the X-Box 360 forum, asks you why this is better than the PS3, and you say it isn't better? Uh... guess there is a first time for everything. Everyone, including xbox owners, say the xbox will be worse than their worst opponent?

As for Nintendo, I'm not even considering it. It seems to me they are aiming at the kids, and I don't enjoy kiddie games. Jump on a mushroom and collect a coin, or smash someone's head in with a baseball bat? Easy choice. ::D
 
We still dont really know that much about the systems..............its really difficult to tell which systems will come out well.
 
I saw a few screens from Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and it looked quite amazing. The PS3 will have a serious fight to beat the xbox360, so I'm not sure which one to get. The system I already have and love, or a whole new system. But it doesn't matter, as most games are on both systems anyway. ;)
 
If it was me I would kinda wait to make a decision. Based on how the companies plan to release games it may not matter which system you get. Each company may release the same game for multiple systems (which would be a good thing).
 
Wouldn't it be fun if all three systems will be major failures, since no one buys them because they wait to see how they compare over time? Or, maybe not.
 
I'm putting my support behind the 360 and the Revolution next gen.

I'm not actually that impressed with the 360's launch line-up, which is filled mostly with fps games and Burnout (yay!). But I know there's going to be some awesome stuff down the line, most notably Halo 3. Also, Konami's already started to jump the ship a little by putting the next Castlevania game on both PS2 and XBOX, so I think a lot of developers that used to be PS2/Sony only will jump ship to the 360. Square Enix is another good example.

I initially was a little iffy about the 360, but when I thought about, I realized that I would want to play Halo 3 at least to see how it ends. And I'm hoping that Rare will deliver with Perfect Dark Zero, and there's rumors that True Fantasy Live Online will be revived.

I just really like the XBL service, too. But that's not really a factor for you, so I would say just wait and see what kind of games they're going to get.
 
I already know we'll be getting The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and that game alone makes it worth it. Sure we'll get Burnout 4 as well, but so will the PS3 and most likely Revolution. Halo? Beat the first one in co-op, never bothered with the second. Didn't like the first one that much. Soul Calibur 3 will be PS2 exclusive (well, for now) but the X-Box has Jade Empire. Though choice, but I think I'll go with X-Box 360, if only to get Oblivion. The rest is a bonus. (unless, of course, the PS3 also will get Obilivion, in which case I'm back to start.) And although you will get TES: Oblivion on PC as well, I can't afford all the upgrade required to play it. Give me Midnight Club 4 as a x-box360 exclusive, and you have a winner. But then we'll just get Mercenaries2 on PS3, so I'll end up getting both systems. What a cruel world. :D
 
I watched this thing on the G4 channel or whatever its called and they said the PS3 graphics were like 3X better and they used a much better engine. They also said it might cost $400+
 
i read an article somewhere i forget where but it said that ps3 will be $400-$500 so it prolly will which i find is rediculous because that is like the price of the psp
 
But since the games on the PS3 will be better looking and all that, they are gonna cost a lot more than the games we get today. That's just bad.
 
Sony don't care which game makes the most money, but what about the game developers? They spend a lot of money making the games in the first place, and now that cost is going to increase a lot. Better looks alone takes more people, and those people needs to be paid. All in all it costs a lot more to make a game, so they need to sell the game at a higher price to compensate.

I think Sony does care a little about the game that makes the most money. They will probably try their hardest to keep that game exclusive on their system in order to sell more systems. It should be in their best interest to care if they currently dont.
