Hello everyone. I am starting up a new site and wanted to get some gamers opinions about some things.

Here is a short survey. Its only 6 questions, so it will not take long. But I appreciate anyone who fills it out and shares their thoughts.

1. How often would you compete in a video gaming tournament or series?
A - Weekly
B - Bi Weekly
C - Monthly
D - Other: Please Specify

2. Would you like to play in team events or as a single player?

3. How much would you be willing to pay for entry fee for a 4 man team event? How much for a 2 man team event? How much for a single player?

4. What games would you play in a tournament/series?

5. What days of the week would you most likely participate in a gaming tournament?

It's alright man. We just don't like brand new members posting links, promoting sites and such.

1. I'd say I'd do it monthly. It'd give me something to look forward every month. I just wouldn't want to do it too often.
2. Single player. I'd rather shine by myself rather than have a team to worry about sharing the glory with.
3. 4 man team...I'd pay no more than about $20, $5 a person. 2 man team...$10. And single player...I guess $5-$10. It depends on what level of competition it is. Bigger, more major tournaments would probably cost more. In which case, I would be willing to pay more.
4. Halo 3, CoD4, Brawl, Melee, Rock Band, and Soul Calibur IV. The only games I really keep up with to be good at.
5. A Saturday, the only day I would really have enough time to devote to a tournament.
6. I wouldn't mind a big trophy with some cash thrown in. I'm real traditional.

$10 - $20, depending on the size of the tournament.

Halo 2, Halo 3, Call of Duty 4, Brawl, Soul Caliber IV, Guitar Hero series, Rock Band

Saturday would probably be best for me and most people

6. Prizes will be awarded to the winner(s). What prize would be most appealing to you?

2. Both, doesn't matter to me.

3. $10 for small area events to $30 for the bigger ones

4. Call of Duty 4, Day of Defeat, Team Fortress 2, Super Smash Bros Brawl/Melee, Soul Calibur, Guilty Gear, Melty Blood, Counter Strike, Tekken, pretty much any fighter really.

5. Saturday but, if I go to a event it could be anyday.

6. Cash, free equipment, or sponsorship.

Gotta address this. You have to pay so they can buy the prizes and pay for using the location. :/ If you don't pay, guess what? It won't happen.

Now how about renting out the location for a day? That costs money, as well.

The OP would have stated something along the lines of the games having to be online. On the chance he did not, it still doesn't change that there are local tournaments.
 
Well in that case...

The maximum fee I feel would be 5 dollars. but then it brings up the issue coudlnt this not be considered as gambling of sorts and placing wagers/antes?

Not even close. What are you placing wagers on? You're providing the money for the tournament to happen. How is it gambling? That one just doesn't make sense.
 
Well I was just wondering. I mean, I guess since it isnt gambling then a small fee would be appropriate to fund the operation costs of running/renting a place or even just funding access to an online site that can serve as the headquarters for this and fund the support of prizes.
 
Whoa... hey guys. Calm down. I have made posts on other forums. IGN, myspace and gamemonster. To answer your question about coming back, Yes. I will. I like this forum. IGN I think is just a messy set up and gamemonster there is hardly any posts it seems. Its not so much I am trying to spam. I really did want peoples opinions on these questions I asked. I am doing it to create a place that gamers like you will like. I think that is much smarter than trying to guess. Why not ask around? Why not pick the minds of fellow gamers? I thought this was a good thing.

And yes, my name is a .com name. Yes I am doing that for exposure, BUT, if any of the mods here want... just give the word. I will give you another username. Trust me I spending LOTS on advertising when it comes closer to launch. Advertising legit is much better way to go. I am not going to waste my time posting on message boards "Hey Check Out My Site!" just to get 20 hits and risk losing membership to that board and even worse STAINING THE NAME OF MY SITE! If I would have known I would have received this action from a lot of you here, I would not have posted it. Why would I want that reputation? My intentions are good, and Im sorry if others feel differently.

Other.  Tournaments are a rare occurrence for me (Probably because I suck too badly at most games to be too competitive :lol).

2. Would you like to play in team events or as a single player?

Depends.  If I'm playing a fighting game or an RTS I would want a single player tournament, but I would prefer a team in shooters.

3. How much would you be willing to pay for entry fee for a 4 man team event? How much for a 2 man team event? How much for a single player?

I don't think how big the team I am playing on would be the determining factor in how much I am individually willing to pay, but anything above $20 (and that's pushing it) and I would probably lose interest.

4. What games would you play in a tournament/series?

Team Fortress 2, Guitar Hero, Rock Band, Call of Duty 4, Super Smash Bros. Melee, C&C series.


5. What days of the week would you most likely participate in a gaming tournament?

Weekends would be best.

6. Prizes will be awarded to the winner(s). What prize would be most appealing to you?

Money or free games.
