Dance Dance Revolution/In The Groove

There hasn't really been any discussion on these games lately. While they're mainly on the arcade scene, there are home verions of both DDR and In The Groove. SuperNOVA for the PS2 was just recently released, with SuperNOVA2 well into development. It's also coming out on other consoles, but PS2 is where the DDR home scene has always been.

In The Groove is, essentially, a ripoff of DDR. However, I find the songs much more enjoyable, and the difficulty is much higher in comparison to DDR. It also has hands (where you have to hit three or four arrows at a time instead of just two), and mines (if you hit them, you lose points and drop a bit on your Life Meter).

There's also the discussion of pads to use on these games. So, does anyone else play either of these?

my friend actaully has two of the metal ones in his basement its awesome

im not the best at ddr so i stick to guitar hero :lol

I have two of those metal pads in one of my sheds. We built them Freshman year as a project in my Physics class. I don't remember what the point was but I ended up with them. So the ps2 + ddr games are out there. We also have an older pc with stepmania and about a billion songs that the pads can hook up to that run off the same monitor. It's pretty gnarly. Makes pool parties more fun.

Mai: Exactly... that's why I asked for a Cobalt Flux for my birthday. I finally get it this Friday... man, it took awhile to build and ship. Try three months.
Hines: Awesome! Any idea what kind of metal pad it is? Also, your friend any good? :)
Alpha: Oh yes, I adore StepMania. I'm actually playing it right now inbetwixt reading the boards. I tried to build a homepad before... but... well, let's just say that dropping them during a move can break 'em badly.
Strubes: No shame in that :p Unless you try to say you're better than people on the pad. IMO, they're completely different "groups" of DDRers. Those who play with a keyboard/controller, and those who play with the pad. Both can do things that the other cannot.

Okay, I got one video up. Pardon the horrible quality; I'll use a better method next time. :(

Ahh, good ol' GH. I'm actually picking it up during the weekend... can't wait. It's only GH1, but the game and the guitar for $20 sounds killer to me (found it on Craigslist).

Anyway... yeah... anyone else play DDR?

I have DDRSuperNOVA2 with the cheap pad, it's pretty cool.

My sister got DDRSN2 when we went to get Rock Band. Of course, it's the PS2 version and there is no PS2 downstairs, so it sits in the box.

Ill play any type of Rhythm game. ITG, DDR, DJ Max Portable, Guitar Hero, Beatmania, and Guitar Freaks. It sucks living by Jason Gileese he makes you look so nub you want to kill yourself.

Eh, he's a has-been anyway, so you're good. :p Good to see another DDR/ITG player. :)

FHQ, I heard it sucks anyway... you should give it a try, though. :p
