DS shipping early?

Yeah, I heard that rumor and I checked the GameStop computer today while I was at work. It shows that our shipping date is 11/15, which means we should receive ours on the 16th. However, it still has a street date of 11/22, so I don't think we'll start selling them early unless we get word otherwise.

:lol

I got my Gamecube games 8 days early... and my system 4 days early (when I did pre-orders on the Gamecubes)... so my customers (mainly my buddies that picked their stuff up) got them early LOL.

DS... I think I am going to get screwed on allocation :(

BV, don't feel so bad.

Even Wal-Mart is getting a really small allocation.

My manager told me today that as far as he knows we're only getting about 20 DSs at my store. :o

I'm hoping that's not the case but...I guess we'll see.

As for GameStop, I'm pretty sure we're only going to get enough to cover pre-orders, at least in the first shipment.

you know... I am not feeling too bad as the little guy always gets messed over.

between retarded supplier problems.... and things not working right, I am almost used to it (something businesses shouldn't have to be used to).
I wonder sometimes if companies such as Namco would actually sell more *via smaller retailers* if they were to make a small segment of their business dedicated to small businesses. I believe they rely on the bigger businesses too much. Smaller retailers tend to have more feel for the market than the larger retailers. This may not always be the case, but it definitely is somewhat true.

One would think if they singed up more smaller retailers they'd sell another 2-5% of whatever big game...perhaps not...I'm no economist :p

I think you'd be surprised at what the little retailers can do.  Lets say the small retailers only sell 40 per shop... but over all of them (lets say there are only 100,000 small retailers in the country (we know there are MANY)... thats an extra 4,000,000 games.  Collectively... that would compete with the bigger businesses.

meh... but then again.. they probably view it as more of a hassle... or whatever.

its hard not to feel bad though... as I hate being the "small guy."

I work really hard at my business and to keep its reputation up.  We have one of the best reputations on the Internet.  Even though we are still not as "well known" yet, we do have a really really good reputation for business.  And for all the hard work that goes in, sometimes it just doesn't seem like it pays off... IE people going to someone else for $1- $1.50 less of a price.....  supplier problems, getting cut out of allocation... its tough.

but hey... I am up for a challenge :)  Thats why I am still here after 3 years (too much determination and not giving up)... well most importantly faith.

BV, why do ya think I'm preordering with you? Because I trust you and your business. I really don't care if it takes a bit longer; if it wasn't for you, I probably wouldn't be able to get one until after the holidays due to low quantities around here.

Don't worry about it, it's fine ^^

My Wal-Mart seriously only got 18 DSs for launch. :o And my manager said that we aren't doing any specials for the day after Thanksgiving.

It kind of makes me wonder where Nintendo's allocation is going.

But anyway, I can't wait to get mine tomorrow.

Let us know what you think. Do you know what games you are getting?

Yeah, I picked up Super Mario 64 DS and Feel the Magic XX/XY along with my DS. I just got home from work and I'm charging the DS before I play it, so I haven't had a chance to play anything yet. But I will definitely post my thoughts on it. :D
