E3 Nintendo Press Conference

Well, the Metroid Prime debate is for a different thread at a different time (although I just have to say, Hunters sucked for me because I was left handed and could barely control everything having to use the stylus with my right).

That center of gravity thingy that tells you if your doing the exercises right in Wii Fit seems to be as accurate as a drunken darts player, and its still incredibly pathetic that people need a video game to exercise. Why exactly did they save this for last?

I have to say it's really amusing to see Reggie and Shiggy playing, though. They have nice banter going on. Reggie, "Muscle weighs more than fat!" That will probably be another Reggie-ism we'll see everywhere now.

nintendo had a terrible showing

except for mariokart, mario, brawl, and metroid

very boring and uninteresting

lets hope sony brings out some HUGE games, or else, this wont be a GREAT year by any means

I agree....why is this last? I mean, the idea of the board is cool, but not "OMG HAVE TO HAVE!!!" cool.
Yeah. Not only that, but it will be bought, primarily by casual gamers. How many casual gamers are tuning into E3? Plus, the board barely worked...

Well no Megatons, but at least we got release dates for SSBB and Galaxies.

Plus, the zapper looks hot.

I'm interested to see what Sony brings to their conference.

Well, for me at least, the zapper was the highlight of the Press Conference.

Nintendo's breaking my heart here. Its almost like they're abandoning the hardcore gamer. :'(

I turned on the conference for one reason, and one reason alone: Brawl news. I got zilch other than a release date that wasn't surprising.

I also have another thing. I knew for a fact Metroid would not have Wifi because I know the lead animator at Retro and he said there was no multiplayer content at all. I also just had a bad feeling the whole time and pitied the community that believed there would be Wifi. Now, the conference did a whole section on online play. But did anyone else notice there was a lack of Brawl in it? They even released a new game, but no news of Brawl having Wifi. I'm beginning to get that bad feeling again. I'm betting Brawl won't have Wifi, despite what everyone believes (and they base that belief on the fact that Nintendo said they "want to do Wifi"... want to =/= will). That makes me sad. ;_;

ALTHOUGH, hearing that Medal of Honor has 32-person multiplayer got me excited somewhat. Online or LAN? We will have to wait and see.

What would you guys rate Nintendo's press conference out of 10?

I personally give it a 2/10....It was a big let down for me.

Well what did you expect? Nintendo to be normal and be like a Microsoft and have a billion shooters? Honestly, if shooters weren't a genre, Microsoft would be flat out of luck. Every big game I've seen from them is a shooter. Call of Duty 4, Mass Effect, Halo 3, etc. You'd think they could be a little more original. Cherry, you really sound dumb right now. It's not about gamers exercising, it's about appealing to an even wider audience. People who can't afford or don't have the time to go to the gym can simply step on that plate and get their exercise in on the Wii, not go out and run in the heat or run on a treadmill in a gym. It's all about appeal. Did you not see the montages that played during the Nintendo conference? People everywhere are utilizing games like Brain Age, Big Brain Academy, Wii Sports, and other games in places you'd never think of such as retirement homes. You don't see elderly people playing 360 or PS3 because sports, shooters, and RPG's don't appeal to them. I agree with you on the fact that Wii fit is not the most exciting thing in the world and shouldn't have been their big thing this year. But they're thinking strategically about the competition. Instead of making 5 installments on one series, they are trying new things, and it works. That's one thing I will always respect about Nintendo, they take their chances. Mario Kart is going to be awesome because it's coming out next year. Yeah, they take a bit longer to release games but think about it. Would you rather have a crappy rushed game with crappy online? Or a totally awesome game that took its time and rocks. In my opinion, the second option is more reasonable. The Microsoft conference was just a bunch of numbers and statistics saying how much better they are than Nintendo and Sony. The Sony conference is starting soon, and I think the games for it look more promising than the 360. Microsoft disappointed me this year, it really did. Boo Microsoft.

That really was a bad conference. Both Microsoft and Nintendo have really disappointed. I want to see something new, not the same old crap and I may actually get it in Sony's press conference, considering how badly they need some new and exciting announcements...

EDIT: I'll rate Microsoft's a 6/10 and I'll give a Nintendo a 5/10. GIVE ME SOME MORE FREAKING BRAWL NEWS!!!!!!!!

Guys, E3 isn't over yet. There's still a few more days of it. Who is to say that Nintendo won't announce something else?

If I recall correctly, last year Nintendo didn't show any Brawl stuff at their press conference, but they released the trailer afterwards.

While Wii Fit seemed to be a huge focus, let's not forget what else they had at the conference for the hardcore gamers:

Smash Bros Date
MANY online 3RD party software including 32 players
Awesome new peripheral that will be used in multiple upcoming games
New Wii Channel
Mario Kart Wii Online
Wii Ware date
Phantom Hourglass demo
Super Mario Galaxy footage and date
Dragon Quest info
Ninja Gaiden DS info

Personally I still think that Wii mat thing would make for a good surfing or skating sim.
